Alvaro Uribe

Nació en Medellín, el 4 de julio de 1952. Está casado con la filosofa, Lina Moreno desde hace 22 años. Tienen dos hijos, Tomás y Jerónimo.



En 1970 se graduó como bachiller en el Instituto Jorge Robledo de Medellín. Fue eximido de exámenes finales Fue declarado como el mejor bachiller.



En 1977, luego de cursar parte de su carrera con matrícula de honor, obtuvo el título de Doctor en Derecho y Ciencias Políticas de la Universidad de Antioquia.

En 1998 obtuvo la beca Simón Bolívar del Consejo Británico y fue nombrado Senior Associate Member de Saint Antony´s College en Oxford University , Inglaterra.


Trayectoria Política:

-Jefe de Bienes en Empresas Públicas de Medellín, durante la gerencia del Dr. Diego Calle Restrepo.


-Secretario General del Ministerio de Trabajo durante la presidencia de Alfonso López Michelsen y los Ministros Oscar Montoya y Juan Gonzalo Restrepo Londoño.


-Director de la Aeronáutica Civil: durante la Presidencia de Julio César Turbay Ayala.
-Alcalde de Medellín: durante la Administración de Belisario Betancur.


-Senador de la República, allí fue Presidente de la Comisión Séptima y sacó adelante innumerables Leyes:


En su calidad de Senador de la República obtuvo las siguientes distinciones:



*- Senador Estrella de 1990
*- Uno de los 5 mejores Senadores de 1992.
*- Senador de 'Las Mejores Iniciativas' en 1992, elegido por los medios de comunicación y sus colegas del Senado.
*- Mejor Senador 1993.




-Gobernador de Antioquia (1995-1997) donde se destacó por su Revolución Educativa



Como Gobernador de Antioquia, �lvaro Uribe se propuso crear 100.000 nuevos cupos escolares en primaria y secundaria. Creó 102.161 nuevos cupos. Con ese programa se beneficiaron 16.000 campesinos a través del Sistema de Aprendizaje Tutorial SAT y generó nuevos 3.500 empleos.



Alvaro Uribe creó 13.180 nuevos cupos universitarios. Creó 62 talleres de alta tecnología y 4 de orfebrería.



Alvaro Uribe logró llevar créditos y bancos cooperativos a 46 municipios en Alianza con Entidades Cooperativas.

En 1997, había 58.317 ahorradores, $22.022 millones en captaciones y créditos por $26.835 millones.


Antioquia, que en toda su vida había instalado 49.956 líneas telefónicas, recibió 85.648 nuevas durante la administración de �lvaro Uribe. Todos los municipios quedaron con planta digital y 80 fueron conectados a Internet.
Ahora conduce el país como Presidente, reconstruye el Estado, el crecimiento de la economía está por encima del 7%, ha disminuido el desempleo, desmolvilizó a los paramilitares, redistribuye el ingreso democratizando la propiedad estatal de Ecopetrol, Isa e Isagen. Y con la seguridad democrática ha reconquistado la confianza pública, tiene a raya a los violentos de la guerrilla y ha salvado a la nación de la conspiración internacional de las Farc con Chavez, Correa y Ortega,

Which is, on the other hand, what this new book does do.

The official list, in what we could call its introduction, does mention that it includes "the more important Colombian narco-traffickers contracted by the Colombian narcotic cartels for security, transportation, distribution, collection and enforcement of narcotics operations" and so on.

But the specific descriptions for each individual vary a lot, several nitpicks about them aside, and it's hard to argue that every single person in it is a "narcotrafficker", at least if we go by the information provided.

I'd even say that Uribe's own entry doesn't exactly accuse him of drug trafficking per se, except for a vague and unspecific claim about being "linked to a business involved in narcotics activities in the U.S." Linked in what way? To what narcotics activities? To what business?

The rest of the claims are either circumstantial or accuse him of collaboration with the Medellín cartel.
