A hotel in Barranquilla

Hola,

I'm trying, without much luck, to book myself a place in Barranquilla for Feb.
I've read somewhere here that HOTEL MAJESTIC is worth checking out. ok, i've found it on PaginasAmarillas.com and contacted it. I got a reply directing me to www.reservashoteleras.com.co. So i tried to book the place but i got stuck coz i had such a message: "no hay planes disponibles que cumplan sus criterios". And the same thing saying there's no such availability came up with other hotels.
Is just to early to book for Feb? But since there's going to be Carnival i'd assume that's wise to book far in advance.

Does anybody know an email address of a decent place in Barranquilla? i mean a place that would be fine for a backpacker on a budget that wants to stay in a safe zona.
I know i can always try to give them a call, but that excludes the possibility of waving my hands vigorously, which usually makes up a serious part of my Spanish conversations.

Muchos Gracias,
Agnieszka

Re: Hotel Majestic
I've stayed in Hotel Majestic, it's fine. Rather then try to book on
the web, why not just call them? As I recall, there was at least one person that worked behind the desk that spoke passable English if your Spanish is not up to the task.

Having trouble myself finding lodging under $50 for Carnaval, 200,000 cp seems to be the norm for Carnaval at the fancy places. The Majestic is probably out of my buget too as have been the 8 or 10 I have been able to contact via websites and email. The Majestic is maybe at http://www.cotelco.org/hotelmajestic . Paginas amarillas has 'phone numbers but, like you, I have a hard time by telephone in Spanish and the long distance shopping by 'phone is hard on my buget. I'm considering just going and if I can't get lodging at the Lonely Planet/Footprint places just heading on to Sta Marta or Cartagena. If you have any luck or if anyone else has suggestions, please post.

Que les vaya bien.
