dw I have been told a lot of this is Bogota, don't really believe that. Medellin is full of envies people but the difference is I think that if you stab people in the back you get your face blown off. Of course they think for a gringo all is OK. I have been around a lot but my kids and the foundation is in Bogota. Very hard to leave that and that is the only reason I am not back on the beach in the good old USA. If for one second there was one single Colombain to take my place what I am doing I would be on the beach as well but there is not. Why is that since they are the best people in the world. They don't even care about their own kids. The hype does not match the reality of the situation.

In all honesty I can only speak for Bogota. If you find that Bogota people are different than Colombain people than I apologize for lumping them all together. I have traveled all of Colombia but you do not know people until you live with them a long time. I have only done that in Bogota.

let me disspel that. The homiceds take place everywhere. I have seen several in my neighborhood in the north as well as a kidnapping and that is this year.

Usually it is a hit and usually what that is is people trying to f^ck over the mafia or someone who does not play those games like everyone else they are accustomed to. So people get into the habbit of thinking they can do whatever and before long it runs into the wrong person and pop. They are not banging tourists but if I were a tourist I would be very careful of where I went in El Centro these days.

I am not that fimilliar with the streets and neighborhoods though. Just walking distance around my mother in laws place. Its a few miles from Santa Barbra Mall.

For example in Germany the ones who starting troubles are the turks. In France the Moroccans... A lot more aggressive than Colombians... I tell it again Colombia is LESS dangerous then many European countries....

I even would say Switzerland is more dangerous then Colombia. People get beat down for nothing... Just young teenagers who are looking for some action.. Most of them are coming from former Yugoslavia.... there is a big problem going on with the youth... they are really violent... The only problem with the youth here in Colombia is that they are all drug addicts... never saw so many pot smokers or coke sniffing teenagers like here.... go to the South of Bogota....

Rocco81 says on Oct 7, 2009, 08:45:

Bushwik you are wrong about the danger issue. ..BUT I'll give you this much:

In Colombia for instance you could be robbed or shot for money, some of these people are starving and its simply a matter of them taking your money to feed their family. Not that it excuses the act, but The level of poverty is something that no European country has seen and that is the reason for the violence in many cases in places like Mexico, Colombia etc.

Now in Europe, pretty much everyone is fed and housed. So in many cases the violence really is not driven out of desperation or need for food and water. To me that makes it more of a personal issue and even that much more hateful. When I was in Munich and Frankfurt I saw quite a bit of trouble from Muslims and Turks in particular. Lots of attacks (they like to gang up) and stabbings too.

Oh and Gypsies in the East...they are troublesome little bastards.

I think Cazuka is higher up near Ciudad Bolivar. A few years ago i took some stuff , clothes and shoes, with me to give to GIB. The stuff never made it because everyone in the neighborhood i was staying in (San Carlos) ended up getting it. I did take a few pair of shoes and some clothes to a friend of GIB`s that lives in Ciudad Bolivar.

Rio is hardcore......For sure Colombia is poor... And people steal because they need something to eat... In Europe they beat you down because they are boring and search for sum aksion.... Thats why I say any country in Europe is more dangerous than Colombia... In Colombia is easy to avoid being robbed (don't go to the ghettos, take care while walking at night)... In Europe this shit can happen everywhere..... Colombians are tranquillo, turks are aggressive...

This Mayor of this city thinks it is a good idea to clean up scum neighborhoods by turning them into parks and what happens is all those drug addicted freaks who lived there? They spread all over the city, El Centro.

7 million, almost 8 million including environs. And Cazucá is not officially in Bogotá, it's in Soacha. In other words, its part of that extra million above the 7 million.

Downtown IS definitely worse than it was a couple years ago and getting worse all the time.

And that is SUCH bullshit that people who steal are doing it out of poverty. Colombia was a lot poorer 40 years ago than it is today and there was a lot LESS theft. And there are a lot poorer countries than Colombia with a lot less theft too. It's what people think they can get away with.

We need to kill a few hundred of these human rats and pile their bodies up in the plaza, then the rest of them will get the message. THAT is the only thing that will be any kind of a solution.

Prado Veraniego is a few blocks from Autopista Norte, is a neighborhood with stores for autoparts, mechanics, there used to be one SurtiFruver closed due to DMG (De malas guevon) It is an ok neighborhood mostly comercial and strato 3.

Centro is the same, and I do go there very often, including Barrio Santafe Zero Tolerance Zone.

Ciudad Bolivar? I painted Graffiti there 2 weeks ago but it was at daytime... People were friendly and everything was cool...
