2100 here we come! woo who! "Colombian Peso Drops to One-Month Low"

Great news for people with $'s Bad news for some people on here!

By Drew Benson

Sept. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Colombia’s peso fell to its lowest level in a month as investors dropped local bets against the dollar amid decreased appetite for higher-yielding, emerging- market assets.

The peso declined for a third day, sliding 0.4 percent to 2,067.75 per dollar at 11:44 a.m. New York time, from 2,060 yesterday. The currency touched 2,075.4 per dollar, its weakest since July 29.

“We crossed 2,060, and that created an opportunity to buy dollars to see if markets outside of Colombia will get uglier,” said Felipe Munoz, a trader at Bogota-based Corredores Asociados SA. “People are closing short dollar positions.”

The yield on Colombia’s 11 percent bonds due in July 2020 gained six basis points, or 0.06 percentage point, to 9.52 percent.

Colombia is currently running a positive "trade balance" and demand in the US for Colombian products is good. However Colombia's second trading partner, Venezuela, is currently experiencing several financial problems. Several other SA countries are devaluing. In addition. the Colombian peso is on the futures board. (This is for the big speculators,http://www.finanznachrichten.de/nachrichten-2007-01/7572444-nybot-to-trade-colombian-peso-020.htm). These charts look relatively flat as well. Short term, I think the dollar will increase compared to the Colombian peso. The imbalance in the international trade could probably be corrected by signing the Free trade agreement. Longer term the peso seems to be good.

Hold on a second, let me find my crystal ball, or my 8 ball[anybody remember those where you could ask a question and then look into the ball for the answer?], and then, I will get back with you. It's been anywhere from 1600 to 2600 over the past 2 and half years of my traveling there.

traveling hopefully is always better than arriving

and today lower again. I look for it to stay around 2000 for a while. I sure dont see the dollar getting much stronger the way the Fed is printing $. I think long term if it stays above 2000 we will be lucky.
