Well that's what she said:
!!!! No pinto mas nada mi hijto !!!!
Can you imagine being an english speaker and immigrating to a country where none speaks english, then spending at least 4 hours a day on messenger talking to Jethro De Bodine ( Ed CLampets nephew from the Beverly Hillbillies) your english would get pretty bad right?
My wifes a costena but it was never a problem understanding her because she's educated doesn't eat her words too much. Her Mother though is a real chore when ever she talks to me she needs to say what she wants to say to my wife or her sisters so they can translate from costeno to spanish :)
Anyway since my wife has been in canada other than talking to me she spends hours on the internet with her mom and now its like she's her mom.
Just the other day She told me she wasn't painting anymore, but when she said it it was like she was her mom.
The only good thing is that probably by the time we go to visit I won't need a translator to understand her mom. Better yet maybe when I tell the vendors on the beach in cartagena !!!! No compro ma' na' !!! I'll get some respect.
remember, we're all in this together,

dwmte7 says on Jun 25, 2007, 06:49: tom...for sure, they don't have to be from the coast to speak non-spanish, spanish. my in-laws--18 years now--speak so fast, so blended (?), that more often than not, i'm clueless as to what they're talking about. they're so loving, they just go on talking as if i was their son or daughter or neighbor. sure, after all these years i understand a whole lot better, but it's still a piece of work. dwmte 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
