Colombia Posts Apr Trade Deficit Of $106M Vs Surplus Apr 08
BOGOTA (Dow Jones)--Colombia posted a trade deficit of $106 million from a $183 million surplus in the same month in 2008, the national statistics department DANE said Friday.
In the first four months of the year the country posted a deficit of $118 million compared with a surplus of $525 million in the first four months of 2008.
The country reported a trade surplus of $471 million in 2008, compared with a deficit of $824 million in 2007.
The country's exports in March fell 28% from the same month in 2008, to $2.43 billion. The value of exports of the country's main commodities - oil, coal, coffee and ferronickel - fell 32%, while sales of other goods abroad fell 23%.
