In any case a round trip to Cali , should cost you in the region of $100-150 , SO MY TWOPENCE WORTH is FLY.

the bus ride from Bogota to Cali is like 10 hours long and cost like 40,000 pesos(one way).if you want to check out scenery,i would recommend the bus ride from Cali to Armenia like 3 hours long.or you can always fly and be in Cali between 20-30 minutes.

getting around colombia this is a response mainly to the guys who live in colmbia such as brody, don 'juan' gringo, greg & sepctrasport.

i too have about at least 3-4 weeks in colombia so im planning to get to cartagena first because im coming through from central america. is it easy to get a flight from panama city or san jose in costa rica to cartagena ? because im heading through to ecuador afterwards & further south you guys recommend cartagena - bogota - medellin - cali as my route ...these are the main cities im going to...plus maybe baranquilla or bucaramanga...

about the bus ride because im gonna get some kind of airpass i think to fly between the cities. to go through a bit of safeish countryside and see the mountaneous stuff do u recommend a bus from bogota - cali right ? which is the furthest south and closest to ecuador again guys...

i like the sound of a bus journey but then again 10+ hours is a bit much cos ill have all that when im in bolivia, south chile.

cheers for your advce guys and any recommendations on good parts of those cities to stay....i still want to mix with the locals & use my spanish and be able to walk back to my hostel ok. i dont want no 4 seasons type hotel really with all the mod cons but the english is pound is still strong cos i just bought 400 US yesterday for 207 pounds..jaja
