I am trying to find the best rate to ship from Houston to Bogota. If anyone can please tell me of the best shipping companies that are secure and not to expensive please send me a message because this is urgent to me.

good LORD... what are you doing up so early??

about shipping, it really depends on how much you're shipping. if you're shipping a house full, my experience (considerable) is to use shinker. they will ship from houston to buenaventura. then, on to your final destination.

boat shippments are to be avoided if at all possible, they're a real pain in the a**. as many other posters have noted, it's far better, easier, to just pack all your stuff and take it on the plane with uyou. then it's there when you arrive, where you arrive. you'll not regret using this method if you're not moving all your worldly possessions.

good luck.

I am sending a box with clothes. Its probably weighs between 70-100 pounds but I am not sure exactly how much. I have looked at Fedex and UPS but they cost about $1000.000 I also found a Colombian Restaurant but they charge 2.50 per pound and even though that is not that bad I am worried that it will not be very safe and secure.

whoops..... dumb me......houston. is that right?

you might see if there are avianca or sam flights out of there. too, any flights to colombia will work.

ask them how much for a parcel.

do you have friends or family living in colombia or going back and forth? that's the cheapest.

good luck. too, if you have a colombian community there, there's usually a small shop that specializes in shipping to colombia. check it out.

Call Tampa Airlines in Miami They used to charge about $0.75 per pound from Miami to Bogota, Medellin and it comes as EQUIPAJE NO ACOMPAÑADO. You are the only one allowed by the customs to claim it. You cannot ship it to someone. Or you may... but then the receiving party has to do all the paperwork and pay duties and taxes which ain't worth it... unless you send a Picasso!

The $2.50 rate you were offered is an underground service called "por las brujas". They use your money to pay the airline, bribe te customs official and pay domestic parcel postage. It works but you are paying for corruption.

Dont know how it works in the states. However when I moved here I just took my boxes to the post office and that was it. It cost around 150 pounds per 23 kg Box. Sent them on Dec 22 and they got here on Jan 10th, not too bad and I didnt have to pick it up anywhere, it was delivered to my door and I had to pay no taxes because they were personal effects.

C-K..Post Office? Please confirm, were you speaking about UK to Colombia, I assume so so since you mentioned pounds. £GB, yes? If you were that will save me a whole mess of bother, time and money.

Thank you in anticipation.

sure, Servientrega es entrega segura, but I find them a bit expensive, More expensive than DHL.
Or maybe it is because I only ship 20kg packets around.

JamesVH Yes, I was referring to shipping stuff from the UK. I think its even cheaper if you dont buy insurance but Im not sure Id reccomend that, its only an extra 25-30 pounds...thats like 10 pints...Ok yeah, maybe not buying insurance is always an option.

Gracias senor CK I am off to my local to spend the money that you saved me.
Seriously: Again thanks for the info. I am now sure that I shall take that route. Some of the stories I read in other posts made me almost give up.

I only intend to take those things that are important to me, like my life support machine. And my ex wifes prosthetic leg.

I will buy a freezer there, I used to keep the beer in the wifes bra, it was always cold there being so close to her heart..

The name? do you beat the hell out of your breakfast every morning? catchy though.

JamesVH First of all, Senorita mind you :) I am a girl.
Now yes youre totally right, ship only the basics, i only sent my 12 kilograms of make up and 13 kilograms of Lush soaps not to mention all the pint and half pint glasses I stole from Pubs all over the UK.
So beer in your wife's bra keeps it cold, she sounds like a true latina to me.
I usually only have breakfast its my fave meal of the day. Yes I kill my cereal bowls damn it!

Ah, Dear Lady CK. I am beside myself. I am mortified at my complete and unpardonable indiscretion. I, for some untenable reason assumed that you were of the contradictory, or male gender.

I ask your pardon in this circumstance, inasmuch as, if I have transgressed beyond the normal bounds of common decency, I would be unable to live with myself and would have to take the only course of action open to a gentleman.

I will have to go and get another large measure of Talisker to console my inner being. (to the casual unenlightened observer. I would get pissed in other words)

As regards your shipment, I can see the reasoning behind the beer glasses, But I am sure that you would not need any of the other accoutrements that mere mortals would require. I am sure that the pleasant caress of the Colombian breeze would match anything that the commercial products could accomplish. I thi.................................. sorry I have to go and throw up now.

Be good.

Oh well apologies accepted. It was indeed an unforgivable mistake, and I will blame it on the boogie ;) lets just assume you were ridiculously drunk and assumed I belonged to the opposite gender...your gender that is.
I hope your liver endures the drinking session, show the naughty thing whos the boss.
Im always good by the way, although I promised Santa I was going to stop behaving this year...
Now YOU, be good and happy hang over.
