Pedregal, Aranjuez, Santo Domingo, San Javier, Castilla, Manrique y El Picacho are safe places for you to stay... you won't stick out at all!

coffee beaner comments on Brasil, Chile and Spain worried about US Bases in Colombia

I wonder why Brazil and Chile aren't asking question of why the FARC had 4 AT-4's belonging to Venezuela.... hmmm.

Dude 4th of July is the going away game of Faustino Asprilla, with guest such as Ronaldinho, Paolo Maldini, Ivan Cordoba, Pibe Valderrama, and a lot more.

coffee beaner comments on FERIA DE LAS FLORES 2009 - FLOWER FESTIVAL (MEDELLIN 2009)

Mitch... enamorado pero no secuestrado parcero jajajaja... I'm down for some beer pong and some flip cup, haven't played them in awhile.

coffee beaner comments on Another rapper in Colombia (medellin).....................................

hahahahaha... funny how those kids in the second video are dancing tecktonic in a Hip Hop video... only in Colombia!

coffee beaner comments on 2010 World Cup Update and impact on Seleccion Colombia

coffee beaner comments on 2010 World Cup Update and impact on Seleccion Colombia

Colombia will not make it to the World Cup with coaches like Rueda, Pinto or Lara. We need a real coach like Bielsa... The Colombian Federation said he was to expensive and now look where he has Chile at.

coffee beaner comments on Is Medellin Becoming the Next Costa Rica?

Medellin is not becoming Costa Rica... Parque Lleras, Mangos and Palmahia are what are becoming like Costa Rica. I never see any gringos partying in La 33, La 70 or Zona Zero... once and awhile you might see a gringo or 2 in a club in Las Palmas. I don't even see gringos in the nice putiaderos we have north of the city so I really don't know what you are talking about ferran. To this day I haven't seen a gringo partying or looking for sex in Bello, Copacabana, Itagui or Sabaneta.

coffee beaner comments on

hahaha... I've seen that old ass gringo in the video with white hair talking to the black dude at Babylon, I once said "hi gringo marika" and he said he wasn't a gringo.... what douchebag.

coffee beaner comments on MEDELLIN SCHOOLS

what about UPB? all my cousins go to school there

coffee beaner comments on In Chipichape, Cali....McDonald's combo 9600 pesos, El Corral 14,500 pesos

The 3 best places to eat burgers in Medellin are in #1 San Diego by where San Diego Show is, #2 one block down from el diamante where they set up the car audio systems.... and #3 Manrique la 45 half a block from the old theaters. The best burgers are found in the corners! #1 San Diego (Burger with drink cost $7000 - $9000) depending if you want it with double bacon, double cheese and another patty. #2 El Diamante (Burger $7500 - $8500) I love it here because they even put 3 quails eggs and chopped up chorizo for 500 pesos more. #3 La 45 (Burger $6000 - $9000) great tasting burgers and the $9000 comes with a beef patty and a chicken patty, lots of bacon and coleslaw and cheese up the a$$.

coffee beaner comments on

Pomelos is the only real orange juice that I know of here in Medellin and it has plenty of pulp... you can find it in all the Exitos. Btw another thing for the store... some beef jerky!

coffee beaner comments on Medellin - Gay bars/hangouts??

As dangerous as the Bronx is at night

coffee beaner comments on

Yo dude, my boy is celebrating his b-day tomorrow at Babylon... a lot of hoe's from my University are going. Hit up Babylon tomorrow! FO SHIZZZLE NIZZLE!

coffee beaner comments on Los Colombianos Jugadores en Mexico

The Mexican League is garbage... all they got is money to spend yet they still can't win a Libertadores... I acutally hate when Colombian players go to Mexico, they usually get burned up with a few exceptions like Aquivaldo Mosquera and Hugo Nuncallega.

coffee beaner comments on US chains in Medellin

I'm dying to eat a baconator and chilli from wendy's.... I wasn't aware we had a BK here in Medallo? where is it at?

coffee beaner comments on "Limpieza" is going to start again in Medellin

I really doubt any gringo here ventures out to Pedregal, La Frontera, San Pablo, Castilla, La Sierra or El Salado.

coffee beaner comments on Why are there so many single GRINGO MEN just going to MDE? Why not somewhere else in Colombia?

Pasty gringos love the puntang... thats the only reason they come here!

coffee beaner comments on Best Chinese in Medellin? In China? Zunga? Asia? Something else?

thaico? you gotta be sh!tting me! food sucks and it doesn't taste anything like Chinese food not even thai. Only good thing in thaico is the cocktails thats it.... good Chinese food = La Paila China and Casa Mandarin both in La 80. Actually they have lots of Chinese places all along La 80, but to me those 2 are the best.

coffee beaner comments on meeting people at bars?

Aguila and Club Colombia are pretty good, maybe it's just the fact that I have gotten use to them now. Anyway Melao is the shit... so many zungas and the place is always packed.... just gotta wait until it gets remodeled. I highly recommend Oro Solido in La 70 on Thursdays unless there is a soccer game, also Yambao which is close to Makro in San Juan. (lots of zungas in both places and they go in packs of 3 - 5.

coffee beaner comments on meeting people at bars?

anytime nybombero!

coffee beaner comments on Colombian Soccer League...

Y los hinchas de gallinarios son santos jua jua jua!

coffee beaner comments on meeting people at bars?

mctraveler I'll hangout man... even on the weekdays since I am out on vacation right now. This Sunday I got a marranada going on and the party goes until Monday since its a holiday here. Anyways, some people here seriously need to get out of Parque Lleras.... and to the person that said he doesn't see groups of women alone at bars or clubs, then you haven't explored enough... you should tryout Oro Solido, Melao (which caught on fire), Pharmacy, Babylon, Circus on Thrusdays. On Fridays El Carboncito, Nativa, Aula 69, Ibiza, Zarao, Cocono Club... Saturday anywhere in Las Palmas, La 33, La 70, Belen, Castilla La 68, Bello, etc. And on Sundays Obelisco, Wazza Wazza, Pharmacy, Deja Vu, Yambu... also keep in mind that Thrusdays and Sundays women drink free almost everywhere in the city.

coffee beaner comments on Colleges/institutions/study abroad programs registered with the U.S. Department of Education?

Yea its a hassle, I served in the Marine Corps from 2002 - 2006, did 2 tours in Iraq and I currently live in Medellin.... and yup, I do attend college here, first I attended UPB for a semester but now I go to another school called Luis Amigo which is a few blocks from my house. I think you should have less trouble then I did since you will be in Bogota... I actually had to travel there just to get the stupid stamp.

coffee beaner comments on Colombian Soccer League...

millonarios jerseys work great for wiping my ass... thats about it

coffee beaner comments on Colleges/institutions/study abroad programs registered with the U.S. Department of Education?

Just before you do all that make sure to get your high school diploma apostille wherever you live or else you won't be able to attend any school here in Colombia. I had something similar with my GI Bill, supposedly it was a big deal that the school had to be accredited and all... at the end as long as the program was equivalent to one in the US it was alright and I ended up getting my benefits. Just make sure to get that apostille though before you come... and once you get it you have to translate it and get it stamped in Bogota at the Ministry of Education... be prepared to take the ICFES as well since they don't count SATs here. Chao!

coffee beaner comments on best banks to take out money in medellin

I use WAMU and I only get charged 1 cent per ever dollar which is basically nothing.

coffee beaner comments on Colombia vs. Chile

Thats what Pinto gets for calling up players like Anchico, Portocarrero, Tressor, F. Vargas, Giovanni Hernandez and Humberto Mendoza even though this last one didn't play. Deja la rosca Pinto! Where is Carlos Valdes? Jonathan Estrada? Fredy Montero? Paolo Cesar Arango? Aldo Leao? Ivan Velez? Giovanni Moreno? Rafael Robayo? Luis Fernando Mosquera and the list continues.... even Cristian Zapata injured is better then "el tronco de Portocarrero".

coffee beaner comments on Colombia v. Uruguay

Colombia - The best defense with only 2 goals allowed vs. Uruguay - The best scoring team with 15 goals. My Prediction Colombia 1-0 Uruguay

coffee beaner comments on Colombia vs. Ecuador

jajaja... please romy, I am a season ticket holder here in Medellin. I'm the wasting my time with you about football. Please I am aware of futbolred, enlajugada and el tiempo... I actually participate in the Atletico Nacional blog, so please save it. Maybe you should watch 45' minutos, Rafagol, Gente Pasion y Futbol and la Telepolemica so you get informed on what actually goes on in Colombian football. Have a nice day.

coffee beaner comments on Colombia vs. Ecuador

romy what games did you watch then? Ospina was by far what saved Nacional not finishing worst then they did.... those ref stories are getting so old, if that was the case "Lule" would have dished out more money so the team would be champions for a 3rd time. what lame excuse!

coffee beaner comments on Football and Drugs

The man to thank for that libertadores is called Francisco Maturana, Leonel Alvarez, Higuita and Usurriaga. Last I checked the only ones that cried about mafia or getting robbed in that libertadores were Millonarios, yet Olimpia, Racing and Danubio who got crushed in Medellin 6 - 0 never even mentioned anything. Also, if according to you mafia had to do with Nacional winning the libertadores then what happened to America de Cali all 4 times they made it to the finals?

coffee beaner comments on Colombia vs. Ecuador

David Ospina is better then St. Agustin

coffee beaner comments on Football and Drugs

I don't know where people get this connection between Pablo Escobar and Atl. Nacional.... if you are from Medellin and are aware about football here in Antioquia you should know that Pablo Escobar was a huge Independiente Medellin fan. They even buried him with a DIM flag.

coffee beaner comments on Another football fan death in Bogota

you guys should watch the Especiales Pirry I posted on the "Espanol" section. ;)

coffee beaner comments on

hahahahaha... eso es verdad Mitch

coffee beaner comments on

20. Independiente Medellin

coffee beaner comments on

43. Atletico Nacional

coffee beaner comments on

Supposedly they are building 19 Walmarts by 2010 all around Colombia... and Guiness doesn't seem to be to popular here since one glass can cost 10 mil pesos, most people rather pay the 1,300 - 2,500 price range for an Aguila or a Pilsen.

coffee beaner comments on You Don't Know Jack About Medellín!

You can't really compare LA with Colombia, there is too much diversity of cultures in Los Angeles therefore your obviously going to have great Chinese, Japanese and Mexican food for example. I don't think Colombian food is bland at all... nbenjamin I noticed that all the food you listed from Los Angeles none is typical to the United States. I personally would rather have a bandeja paisa then a hamburger or a hot dog.
