coffee beaner comments on best banks to take out money in medellin

I use WAMU and I only get charged 1 cent per ever dollar which is basically nothing.

coffee beaner comments on Colombia vs. Chile

Thats what Pinto gets for calling up players like Anchico, Portocarrero, Tressor, F. Vargas, Giovanni Hernandez and Humberto Mendoza even though this last one didn't play. Deja la rosca Pinto! Where is Carlos Valdes? Jonathan Estrada? Fredy Montero? Paolo Cesar Arango? Aldo Leao? Ivan Velez? Giovanni Moreno? Rafael Robayo? Luis Fernando Mosquera and the list continues.... even Cristian Zapata injured is better then "el tronco de Portocarrero".

coffee beaner comments on Colombia v. Uruguay

Colombia - The best defense with only 2 goals allowed vs. Uruguay - The best scoring team with 15 goals. My Prediction Colombia 1-0 Uruguay

coffee beaner comments on Colombia vs. Ecuador

jajaja... please romy, I am a season ticket holder here in Medellin. I'm the wasting my time with you about football. Please I am aware of futbolred, enlajugada and el tiempo... I actually participate in the Atletico Nacional blog, so please save it. Maybe you should watch 45' minutos, Rafagol, Gente Pasion y Futbol and la Telepolemica so you get informed on what actually goes on in Colombian football. Have a nice day.

coffee beaner comments on Colombia vs. Ecuador

romy what games did you watch then? Ospina was by far what saved Nacional not finishing worst then they did.... those ref stories are getting so old, if that was the case "Lule" would have dished out more money so the team would be champions for a 3rd time. what lame excuse!

coffee beaner comments on Football and Drugs

The man to thank for that libertadores is called Francisco Maturana, Leonel Alvarez, Higuita and Usurriaga. Last I checked the only ones that cried about mafia or getting robbed in that libertadores were Millonarios, yet Olimpia, Racing and Danubio who got crushed in Medellin 6 - 0 never even mentioned anything. Also, if according to you mafia had to do with Nacional winning the libertadores then what happened to America de Cali all 4 times they made it to the finals?

coffee beaner comments on Colombia vs. Ecuador

David Ospina is better then St. Agustin

coffee beaner comments on Football and Drugs

I don't know where people get this connection between Pablo Escobar and Atl. Nacional.... if you are from Medellin and are aware about football here in Antioquia you should know that Pablo Escobar was a huge Independiente Medellin fan. They even buried him with a DIM flag.

coffee beaner comments on Another football fan death in Bogota

you guys should watch the Especiales Pirry I posted on the "Espanol" section. ;)

Supposedly they are building 19 Walmarts by 2010 all around Colombia... and Guiness doesn't seem to be to popular here since one glass can cost 10 mil pesos, most people rather pay the 1,300 - 2,500 price range for an Aguila or a Pilsen.

coffee beaner comments on You Don't Know Jack About Medellín!

You can't really compare LA with Colombia, there is too much diversity of cultures in Los Angeles therefore your obviously going to have great Chinese, Japanese and Mexican food for example. I don't think Colombian food is bland at all... nbenjamin I noticed that all the food you listed from Los Angeles none is typical to the United States. I personally would rather have a bandeja paisa then a hamburger or a hot dog.

coffee beaner comments on The Best Universities in Colombia

UPB and Luis Amigo don't fall behind when it comes to ladies.

coffee beaner comments on You Don't Know Jack About Medellín!

Here is a website for those of you who want to know about clubs in the north of Medellin. http://www.farrasnorte.com/

coffee beaner comments on Colombian soccer teams suspected of laundering drug money

coffee beaner comments on Medellin Restaurants - Parque Lleras

Lleras Town has the same cocktail special but never tried it out... GarBar is wack by the way. And where exactly is this new(ish) sushi place by Parque el Poblado.... I want to go!

coffee beaner comments on You Don't Know Jack About Medellín!

If you want the best Argentinan empanadas and great steaks you should visit Versalles in Junin. Also in Junin you can find shops that sell typical Colombian art (artesanias). I would also suggest trying out the restaurants in La 80, for example Asados de la 80 and Balcones de la 80. In la 70 going towards la Bolivariana there is also good restaurants like Mondongos, Aguacate y el Festival de la Costilla BBQ. If you want to party in a more Colombian feeling you can go to the north side of the city and hit up La Zona Rosa de Castilla which is 9 closed off blocks full of clubs and bars.... same goes for places like Manrique, Campo Valdes and Aranjuez but most people here wouldn't go to these places aside from MT. Also the best Pollos Mario is located in Manrique la 45 in front of the Gardel statue, if you like Tango and know who Carlos Gardel was there is "La Casa Gardeliana" a block from the statue. Little town such as Venecia, Carmen de Vivoral, Barbosa and Porse are great when they have festivals which already passed. Try Copacabana also, first time I went I was surprised by the many fondas and estaderos they have... great food in Copacabana. If you want info on strip clubs you can PM me also... no quiero prender el avispero =)

coffee beaner comments on Medellin Restaurants - Parque Lleras

I agree about Thaico, the food is bad... but the cocktails are great!

Indio Comido is great fast food, its like a block and half away from folia on la 10 on the left side.... and Mondongos which in across from folia is also good.

coffee beaner comments on Regionalismo!

"Gracias a Dios no sos rolo. Que verguenza para Bogota serias. Gracias a Dios no sos Colombiano. que verguenza para Colombia serias." Con ser Antioqueño tengo ;)

coffee beaner comments on Question about Colombian Visa, Cedula, and Military card

Btw if you are only coming for 2 weeks just use your US passport anyway, they give you 60 days to be in the country.

coffee beaner comments on Question about Colombian Visa, Cedula, and Military card

I don't see how that is possible, I was born in the States and it only took me a year took get a cedula... and that passport I got it within a month, if you have your registro de nacimiento from Colombia I don't think its a problem for you to get a cedula or passport, I might be wrong but it sound like BS to me.

coffee beaner comments on Medellin "Festival of Flowers" Parade ???

"What should a tourist in Medellin expect during the flower festival?" Partying and more partying!

coffee beaner comments on Regionalismo!

Gracias a dios no soy rolo!

coffee beaner comments on Regionalismo!

No solo en el extranjero... los rolos son muy regionalistas aqui en Colombia tambien.

coffee beaner comments on Colombia: Vacation Wonderland--Tonight on the Travel Channel

Anybody knows when this will be showing on Discovery Travel and Living on UNE?

coffee beaner comments on The Festival of Flowers in Medellin

2 of my friends are coming that week and they payed like $700 USD each... also Feria De Las Flores isn't only the flower thing, its basically a week of party which ends with the flower parade on Sunday. So if you wanna have sex and get drunk come to Feria de las Flores!

coffee beaner comments on Colombian Culture cousine NY

That picture is in a restaurant called "El Basurero" in Steinway (Astoria).... they have the best picada I have ever eaten, I can't even find a picada like that here in Medellin.

coffee beaner comments on Where to find Peter Pan peanut butter?

They also have it at the Carrefour of la 65.... 12 mil. I actually have like 12 coming tomorrow from the states.. don't know if they are Peter Pan though.

coffee beaner comments on How many fruits do you think that Colombia has?

I love borojo and sapote.... these are impossible to find in New York.

coffee beaner comments on Ya no hay duda...Piedad Cordoba es Pro-Guerrilla!

I thought she was part of Al-Queda with that turban she wears.

coffee beaner comments on

Medellin... great schools, beautiful women, friendly people and the most outgoing culture within Colombia, no offense to anyone thats not paisa. Things to do - Travel around the department, there is so much to do.... only thing, no beaches but they have parque de las aguas which has a pool that makes waves hahahaha! Rio Medellin is also great for a swim on a hot sunny day! ;)

coffee beaner comments on ENglish teaching course info (TKT)

I'm currently taking a "Diplomado" in Eafit called Fundamentals of English Language Teaching. In the course we are working with the TKT and it seems pretty easy. As far as I know if you don't have a BA in English or what they call a Licenciatura it will be hard to get a job at a University like Eafit or UdeA, but you could work at a learning institute like Universal Language, American Headway etc. Also if you know both Spanish and English you can even teach at a private High School like one of my classmates.

coffee beaner comments on IRELAND V COLOMBIA,,,.....2pm Thursday 29th

romy, actually the starting forward with Falcao is Wason Renteria and not Edixon, so far in the Qualifiers Renteria has been the starter. I also don't understand the reason for having players like Vallejo, Elvis Gonzalez and Anchico in the National team, ohh yea "la rosca de Pinto". Lets not forget the future goal keeper of the National team David Ospina, who seems to not exist for Pinto.

coffee beaner comments on IRELAND V COLOMBIA,,,.....2pm Thursday 29th

Not only Julio, but no Zuniga, no Aquivaldo Mosquera, no Tressor Moreno, no Jaime Castrillon, no Wason Renteria, no Rodallega and no Aldo Leao Ramirez.... regardless I think the team played very well even without these players.

coffee beaner comments on IRELAND V COLOMBIA,,,.....2pm Thursday 29th

nuts_junior, tickets for the retirement game won't go on sell for another week or so.... If Maradona, Veron, Cafu come to play the game I'm sure the stadium will be sold out within weeks. As far as the game Colombia entered the game sleeping but now they are playing better... I haven't seen much of Ireland aside from the goal, we'll see what happens in the second half.
