cobbook6104 comments on Anyone from Cucuta ?????????? I would think so, just checking. They have tried to tell us that only the really bad neighborhoods are cheaper. Telling us that the para military hide out in those areas? I want them safe, but not putting them up in the Ritz, u know? Florida Bob

cobbook6104 comments on Mary me.....marry my family...sound familiar? The celebration started as u say. She landed a gringo now we are rich!!!!!!!!!!!! It was dicussed alot between my wifa and myself. We have even had sit down face to face talks with the family. We provide a gauranteed amount every month. NO MORE!! Don't even ask. This way my wife feels good and I know the expense. We have been given alot of sad stories, but to no avail. I explained to them that we eill raise their grandchildren and not them. I am sorry for the lack of jobs, supposedly. I can't believe that if u want to work you can't find any employment. I understand the culture and I am happy to give a set amount monthly. We even had an uncle call and tell us we are cheap and not givvvng the family enough money, we don't talk anymore to him. Anyway, this is how we deal with it. Florida Bob

cobbook6104 comments on 67 countries were represented in just one session in Tampa. Over 1500 people, a very emotional experience to say the least. People should go, just to see the new citizens faces. Would make them think a little different about their life. Did mine. Florida Bob

cobbook6104 comments on My wife holds a masters degree and 2 bachelor degrees from your wonderful country. I met her in the states. She was on vacation from the U.K., where she went to learn english. She left Colombia to try and achieve something in her career she felt was not possible in Colombia. We both love Colombia and intend to retire there in 5 -6 years. She is very proud to be a U.S. citizen as most important a Colombian citizen. So, to answer your question, we don't. But if I can tell u all thank you so much for producing such incredible women. She came from a very poor family and did it herself, what a lady!!!!!!! Viva Colombia, thanks again for the love of my life. Florida Bob

cobbook6104 comments on Why Colombia? No...Really Well as always ,the original question turns into a pissing match amongst the so called regulars.

cobbook6104 comments on Living in Colombia stay away You turn my stomach with your low expectations of Colombian women and the culture. You my distant friend are a addition we would not like to see in Columbia.

cobbook6104 comments on Visiting Cucuta Cucuta I really appreciate all of your advice, I don't want to sound like a puss, ya know? I believe you have helped me with my decision and I'll look into Pamplona. Just trying to do the right thing.

cobbook6104 comments on Visiting Cucuta Cucuta Certainly we have talked with her family, but believe it or not they want us to come so bad that I sometimes wonder if they are being completely honest. They live in what I have heard is a very poor area near the airport. Certainly not looking forward to the heat, I have heard is unbearable. Then of course with the family not being to affluent, no a/c!! Oh well the culture of the family will most certainly help me to forget the sweat on my brow. Bring on the cold beer.

cobbook6104 comments on Visiting Cucuta Miami Mike Hell I love Colombia and it is embarrasing to ask this question, but I do not want to worry the whole thime for my espousa's safety or her familia, si? We are palnning ot fly to San Antonio and drive across the border. I don't need any hassles. Maybe we'll just fly them to Carracas where we are going to visit her sister.

|
cobbook6104 comments on Caribian Coast no good answers on the coastal areas, but u will enjoy Cartagena, such a great party town. Beware of the taxis, they are not metered, therefore they will charge whatever they think they can get. If u want diving go to San Andres island, nothing better. Enjoy, after Bogota I don't know if u can enjoy another city in the world.

cobbook6104 comments on moving to bogota Good luck to you, you are a very lucky person to be able to return to the most beautiful country these eyes have seen. I will be there for good in senco anos.

cobbook6104 comments on who's who florida bob, tampaflorida, dreaming of 5 years from now, moving to bogota!!!
|
|
cobbook6104 comments on Whats the weather in Bogota like now? Bogota Clima is generally the same as they have told you, my espousa and I usually carry a light leather coat. You will see women wearing black leather boots all the time, leather is worn day and night time everywhere. There is only 1 way to get a proper exchange and that is with your ATM card. Also use your credit cards for purchases at restaurantes and hotels, shopping malls ,etc. Trying to get the proper amount of pesos without fluent spanish is very difficult to me.
|
|
cobbook6104 comments on The bottom line.... colombia Most wonderful place I've ever been. Bogota is the best climate imaginable, 45f at night 68-72 dias. you'll love it, taxis are the only way to go, but you must speak and understand spanish well. Cartegena is great, very, verry humid!! Many hotels that are very nice around 35 u.s. per night. Santa Clara and Theresea are 250.00 plus us per night. Taxi's is Cartagena are not metered, be sure to ask the price before, I said before you get in the cab. Have a great time I will be back in the winter and moving to Bogota within 5 anos.

cobbook6104 comments on cartagena-going it sola? i just stayed in the hostels de san diego, $39 us per night, big clean room with dos balconie, free breakfast that is great. Very helpful and nice staff. One street over from the Santa Clara hotel.

cobbook6104 comments on Cartagena hotels? And what part of city to stay? just was in Cartagena 15, 15 and17th. Beach is not pretty, the walled city is excitinjg and offers alot more to do. The taxi ride was only 10 minutes and 4000 pesos($1.75). The best is as told to you before, the Santa Clara, visit the bar it is wonderful. The Charleston has the best view by the pool on the top of the hotel, be ready to dish out $240 - $350 per night us dollars.Have a great time, humid as hell.
