claudia82 comments on Cali on a Thursday

Go to London Bar, in Avenida sexta A...on thrusdays there's a great salsa band! a lot of foreigners go there so maybe u could make friends...I went there 2 weeks ago (thrusday) and the band was awsome ( a couple of marc anthony's band members joined in...)

claudia82 comments on Avianca to begin offering LAX-BOG flights

But... It was one of the expensiest rates you could find and also it was really boring (and cold) to wait for 2 hours in Mexico City's airport sitting in the plane with doors open....

claudia82 comments on About How Much Money DVD's Cost in Colombia?

. Find out if your DVD is multizone, so you wont have a problem. In Colombia you can buy multizone DVD players or most of them come with two zones: 1(North America)and 4. The average price of a DVD (not pirateado)is COP$70 thousand

claudia82 comments on NEED ADVICE about army time in colombia

1 year It's 1 year not 2. There are exceptions if you're an only child or if you have certain illnesses. Also if you are accepted in an University and you payed your 1st semester you can posponed it and then ask for more extensions. It's true that it is a lottery, bur they don't send you to actually figth. Some go around the city helping with traffic, others do office work and the ones that speak fluent english are sent to the Sinai(i've met boys who were sent there...tis isn't that bad...at the end they travel a lot). But because of your situation you should go to the Consulate.

claudia82 comments on Popular Destinations In Cali

Places to go The PAcific Royal is no the Radisson
Good salsa dancing places and not as far as Juanchito and la Pollera Colorá are Tintindeo (calle 5 in front of Clínica San Fernando in the south) an Zaperoco (near Clinica de Occidente in the north)

As for restaurants and bars there are a lot of them. It depends in the kind of food and environment you like. But try the tostadas an marranitas of el Arca de Pascual (parque del perro and Granada), Tentempie (Pasoancho and Palmetto Plaza, they have great lulada too) and Portal de Melendez(near la Plaza de toros)

For modern pop and rock music (in english) I think Martyn's is still the best place here (after 20 years), it moved to santa Monica (Calle 6A with 22, not sexta but "sexta A"). Near it, there's a bar called London, usually I don't like it much(gets boring) but on thursdays there's a salsa band, they are great, the place gets packed but it has a really good environment.
If you like electronic, mixed with ska and latin rythims there's Desvan (great on thrusdays) and Forum (hate it on thursdays).
For cross -over music there's Praga, Moshiba, Kukaramakara and many more.

If you like museums go to the Gold Museum and the Modern Arts Museum. Also the zoo! and near you can find the Botanical Garden.

claudia82 comments on What is the proper pronunciation of "Pance" the area on the outskirts of Cali. What are some places to go in and nearby Pance?

Parque de la Salud Take a taxi or a bus (Blanco&Negro ruta 1, Pance 10) and tell them to take to Parque de la Salud. It has 4 gates, my favorite one is the last one (less crowded and the water is more clear). In any of the 4 places you can buy food and drinks(big lunches, fritanga snacks, sodas, beer)and in the second gate (i'm not sure) you can ask about a little hostal they have (i think they still have it). A looooooot of people go there on sundays so if you go by bus you have to wait a lot for an empty one to take back to Cali (specially if you wait until 6 p.m. when everybody leaves) but during saturday and week days is ok. During week days you usually run into students from the universities nearby, that go there to ride bikes or to have a couple of beers after class...

claudia82 comments on Sports

In Cali there's a baseball league...but it's run by Coldeportes...a state institution...I don't know how could you apply there....but baseball is more common in the north coast than in Cali

claudia82 comments on Colombians Travel Options

We don't need visas (just passport) for Perú, Chile, Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay...for Ecuador it's required a paper that shows if you have had any problems with the law....you have to get in the DAS offices

claudia82 comments on Is vos used or is tú used in Colombia?

Vos, tú, usted... Vos is used in Antioquia (mostly Medellin)and the entire Valle del Cauca. For those regions the most formal is usted for people you hardly know, for some bosses or if you are mad with someone. Then comes tú(rare) and the most friendly is vos. Tú is the most common and friendly in other regions...

claudia82 comments on Am I getting paranoid?

claudia82 comments on Does anyone know where Guadalajara, De Buga, Colombia is located?

Buga (Guadalajara de Buga) Buga is the short name for Guadalajara de Buga. It's a 1 hor and a half drive from Cali. The other town that Peter Miami mentioned is "Bugalagrande"

claudia82 comments on Best places to visit in Colombia/South America

Another idea You should try to do to Santiago de Chile stay there 3 or 4 days during those days go to Valparaiso and Isla Negra (its a 2 hours drive) visit Pablo Neruda's houses (now museums) in each city (Have u heard of him?? Amazing houses... then make your way down to Patagonia visiting different towns and get to Puerto Varas(towns in that area like Frutillar are nice to visit) and around...there u can start the lake crossing (a 1 or 2 days trip u choose) and it ends in Bariloche Argentina stay there a couple of days then u can take a plane or a bus to buenos aires (20 hours bus drive but very comfortable if you do it in a "bus cama")enjooooy Buenos Aires and then u can make your way up to Cordoba, Iguazú and Salta ...I've donde this trip up to Buenos Aires and it's reallly nice...next time i want to continue up to Brazil

claudia82 comments on Bogata or cali

Places to go Ladrilleros (whales in august), San Cipriano, Hacienda El Paraíso y Piedechinche (sugar cane museum), Lago Calima, Ginebra (it's music festival is comming), km 18-vía al mar (for luch or drink aguapanela in the evening). The coffe zone is closer to Cali than Bogotá and there's a lot of options there

claudia82 comments on HELLO

claudia82 comments on Smart and funny women in Colombia

Crazy Eagle u'r right The kind of people u meet depends in the places you go or where you live

claudia82 comments on Smart and funny women in Colombia

socioeconomic I've met plenty of smart women some of them rich some aren't. Many rich girls are hollow but the same goes for girls with less economic resorces....in here u can find girls who doesn't have the money to pay a expensive Uni but they could save and pay for a tecnical study but instead of that the money they save is used in getting boobs or liposuction....so it's relative...in here like everywhere you'll find all kinds of people...I have very funny smart friends but we don't live in Bogotá ;) If u want to P.M. I could talk to a friend that lives there and maybe u could meet
