chicomalo comments on 9 out of ten huh? That is interesting because I can think of 4 such relationships and for the life of me can't think of one that is divorced or ended in divorce? The ones I know all have kids and are long time marriages. I am sure that happens I just don't associate with visa huntering Colombians or bobo gringos to I don't run into that problem. I guess that could explain it.

chicomalo comments on Explosions in Buenaventura If it were Bogota it would probably make international news but I doubt this will make it to CNN

chicomalo comments on Moving from Bogota It is in Salitre Plaza. If you want more specific info then you can send me a PM. Nope I don't have a car.

chicomalo comments on Pregnant good idea houston witht he apt at the OB-GYN but you know I beleive that all he has to do tell her he want's to go with her to the OB-GYN when he get's to Cali to make sure everything is OK. Then listen for her response to that. If it is; "wow thanks a lot you are so sweet..." then good if it is; "oh ummm ummm" then you know you are being scammed. That will save you a trip.

chicomalo comments on Pregnant tinto you took the words right out of my mouth. Women from Colombia that go to all the trouble to work in Costa Rica don't wait tables they are prostitutes. Also her asperations are grande and that usually is a way a pro justifies her work. Paying for University, buying family a house, supporting my kid bla bla bla.

chicomalo comments on Pregnant or it could be the baby belongs to a Colombian and she knows she won't get sh%t out of athem so here she comes to big daddy war bucks. ;) They know how your culture is and any pregnant girl here with a choice as to who is going to pay for a baby is going to pick the gringo. You thinking of paying 500 a month.....case in point. It could be yours? But you just never know do you? I would say since you have a doubt then it speaks volumes to who she is and what kind of relationship you ahve with her..

chicomalo comments on Moving from Bogota no I just created it for this add as I don't want people to pick up on my email and spam it. But I guess maybe I will only hear from the dyslexic people? ;)

chicomalo comments on Pregnant I know severel girls here who collect the money from Daddy and then buy themselves clothes and party all the time while Mom takes care of the baby, child, etc. Buy baby clothes or whatever if you want to but forget giving money. I am sure you even by paying half the medical bills it will end up in her pocket as she will take the bills to someone and they will pay it for her. But at least you can feel good.
chicomalo comments on Pregnant sea and btw if you are for real and not jerking our chain...? $500 for what? That is more than double the minimum wage and I ahve friend pregnant right now who is working for half that, another that is pregnant and is not working at all, not married either. A pregnant woman needs what? C'mon now if you want to be a nice guy you can pay HALF of the medical bills.
chicomalo comments on Pregnant $500 a month. Yep she picked you out and set you up. Anyone that would just hand over $500 beofre a baby is even born is a sucker. Sorry but that is how I see it and I ahve vastly more experience with COlombian women and I would bet women in general than you have. Dude wake up!

chicomalo comments on Opening a bank account I am a Colombian resident with cedula. No need to sign a W-9 but they said it was their policy for US citizens since Citi was home based in the US even though they are not afiliated. Which like I said was a crock of ..... So that was one bank to walk out of.
chicomalo comments on Exchange student Cali is not the safest city in the world that is for sure but I am sure her host family will watch over her and she will be fine. Don't worry it is not as bad as your imagination projects. She'll be fine and I used to live in Cali and now live in Bogota. I am American.
chicomalo comments on Opening a bank account Citi what a crock. They wanted me to sign a W-9 form. If you open a bank with them and sign that form I hope you like paying taxes in Colombia and the US. Try Bancolombia.
chicomalo comments on Pregnant oh and that fact she was in Costa Rica as mentioned above is a worthy note. She is probably scamming you all the way to the bank so turn off all this concerned father bullsh%t that she will be more than happy to use against you in every way possible and start playing by her rules. She is Colombian so she is thinking like a Colombian. You need to think like a Colombian. The child is not a US citizen until she has proved that the child is yours and you sign for it. So stay away from her until she is able to prove something beyond any doubt. Like a DNA test with a notary stamp in original form. Until then have a beer and relax. DON"T DO ANYTHING until then.
chicomalo comments on Pregnant I think in true Colombian male form you should bragg about how potent you are and leave the raising of that child out of wedlock to her. She should have used birth control or required you to use a condom. Since she didn't then I guess she is f&%ked. A very common tale here in Colombia. So many of the men here have children from different women. So the DNA test and all that bull is for her to prove you are the father. Otherwise wash your hands. It probably isn't yours anyway.

chicomalo comments on Colombian president vows to reject bill that would soften corruption probe and for sure we will not see a protest. Where are those college kids now? Activist Professors? I meen they organized and protested Bush like no tomorrow and this right here has more of an impact on their future than Bush ever had. I would say their priorities are a bit mixed up.
chicomalo comments on Colombian president vows to reject bill that would soften corruption probe "that seeks to soften the investigation into corruption among legislators" yep that is exactly what Colombia needs. What are they going to call this bill? Turn your head while I stick my hand in the cookie jar? Are the Colombian people really that dissalusioned that they allow their representatives to actually put something like this on the table?

chicomalo comments on look who flew in through my kitchen window today off with his head and into the pot with him.... ;)
chicomalo comments on after san andres first is your res visa and you need a lot of paperwork that needs an apostle stamp on. Birth Certificate, marriage if your married in the states, police background check, a letter from her with notary stamp stating she wants you to get visa. You need all these documents translated in COlombia by a official notary translator.

chicomalo comments on So who here on this site actually lives in Colombia? Living in Colombia is different things to different people. The only way to find out if it is for you is to come and live here. Same as any other place.
chicomalo comments on safety in the countryside: hiking and rock climbing? around Melgar is pretty safe as well but you need to go with a club to know where to go and where not to go. If you want to go by yourself anywhere in Colombia prepare yourself for a kidnapping.

chicomalo comments on So who here on this site actually lives in Colombia? Modelia is between Salitre and Fontibone

chicomalo comments on Moving from Bogota oops sorry I need to correct the email it is actually; farawayandlongago at hotmail.com ;)

chicomalo comments on Use you US passport and keep your Colombian passport to yourself. I see many COlombian using that blue passport in line at the airport. If you plan on staying and working here you definantly want to use your US Passport to show that you have been out of the country. After a year you get a tax break but only if you can show it on your US passport. I bet you don't have a cedula so that will be a hasle for you not to mention if you get hassled about your military service for using the Colombian one. Just use the blue one.
