I stand by my comments about Cartagena....it takes a while to know a place and after spending more than a year in Colombia, which as a country is great! I have concluded that Cartagena is indeed a shithole.....but as they say ' one man's hell is another man's heaven" The condo is just an investment, it will sell like all beachfront. Besides, my point of view is just that and nothing more. If my price per m2 is the most expensive you have ever seen....then you need to escape from Kansas and see the rest of the world a bit....

When you say $$$$ it's not the same as COP..........regarding wire transfers, whom are you talking about? Both Colombians and extranjeros have bank accounts OUTSIDE of Colombia! I have sold several properties in Colombia this same way and never got involved in any of what Brian's is suggesting. When is there a capital gains tax when purchasing a property?

The currency makes little difference other than the fact that I invested Dollars and want to sell for Dollars. A European would probably want Euros...COP is only good in Colombia......why would I want them! I invested Dollars when the COP was about the same as now....

I would say that most of the negative comments are from people that are: #1 are broke and have no concept of what real value really is, #2 bottom feeders, which is ok I have no problem with that and, #3 people that have nothing better to do anyway. However, Saltador had the insight to do a little research and found out that I am not far off the mark, and really the only worth while comment. The world market is slow and prices have fallen but people still buy and look for a value....beachfront always has a value!!
