For the Conspiracy Theorists.... Savanah, Ga is home to the 1st Ranger battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment as well as host to many special operations airfields and activities.

Maybe this announcement is just part of the public disinformation campaign of a new covert money/troop/training program for the joint US/Colombian operations.

Time for some for cervezas! ;)

cdyow comments on "EL NACIONAL" en Los Angeles!!!

Very True!! those shots that hit the post were great!! i was jumping out of my chair several times.

it was frustrating though, because el nacional just couldn't seem to maintain possession in the 2nd half.

thanx for the help. the last tip worked. had 2 change all default to real player.

cdyow comments on "EL NACIONAL" en Los Angeles!!!

Goooooolllllllllllaaaazzzzoooooooo!!! Yes, it was an exciting match to watch! I saw it on Fox Sports Espanol last night.

The coverage of the fans in the stadium seemed to show a decent turnout of El Nacional fans. I'm sure they had their hands full against a coliseum full of America (mex) loyalists!

A fortunate turn of events for Atletico allowed the game to end in a draw. It seemed that for the majority of the 2nd half, Atletico lost the fluidity and rhythym they enjoyed earlier.

But leave it to Hugo Morales to slash is way thru a defense. He did a great job of forcing the isue in the final minutes that resulted in Hurtado's guiding the ball past a diving America keeper and into the back of the net.

Exciting game!

realplayer installed yes. have real player installed. for media types, it is set only to play real player type files though. i use winamp for everything else.

bummer. i'll just keep tinkering around with it. (i've said that many times)

cdyow comments on For the ladies: Did you have to change how you dressed, when you arrived in the United States?

It's scary here! I live in Miami, and let me tell you, I wish many people WOULD dress more conservatively.

Of course I have no idea if those wearing the clothes are colombian, american or any other nationality.....but all too often you will see moms very obviously in competiton with their teenage daughters.

brazilian jeans....belly shirts..cleavage central.....belly rolls hanging out.

and we guys are no better sometimes either..but usually just fat and sloppily dressed.

it's all pretty comical....but you can find a diverse range of styles just depending on where you are in the city.

malls, south beach and coconut gorve are obvious hot spots for pushing the envelopes of decency....

the outlying areas and workplaces are fairly tame in comparison.

cdyow comments on Premier Trip to COLOMBIA!!!

glad to hear that! i am happy to hear you are having a great time! i live in miami and also recently experienced my first trip to cali---and colombia for that matter.

katrina hit my area fairly hard for a cat1, but obviously i wish all your family and friends the very best in their efforts to recover from the disaster.

keep seeing the sights. i stayed in a different area of the city: at the hotel plaza versalles. but i drove by the intercontinental while seeing the river cali, and the statue of sebastian belecazar.

be sure to go see the church en el centro...just have fun!

and you are exactly right about the refreshing feeling of being in another country...really helps clean out all the current worries in your head for a while.

take care!

cdyow comments on Which city in Colombia has the most beautiful women?

cdyow comments on Colombia: Displaced Communities Take Action

It's completely onesided, to say the very least. i'm not endorsing it or denouncing it. but it obviously only addresses one perspective of the issue.

no head bashing required! ;)

cdyow comments on urgent please

paypal nasif,
when sending money via paypal, you are sending money to an email address, that is linked to a "pay pal verified" bank account or debit card etc.
for your future wife to actually receive the funds, she either needs the ability to access the bank account the funds were sent to, or have a debit/credit card associated with that account.
there might be some other options, but those are the ones i am most familiar with, as i use paypal exclusively for my ebay auctions.
hope that helps some....good luck.

cdyow comments on Preparing for your trip to Colombia

Preparations Before Leaving Hi everyone. I apologize in advance if this has been covered somewhere else already. Also, this is my first trip overseas in quite sometime, so maybe it's common sense to many of you.

I strongly advise everyone to call their banks and verify that their visa/mc logo debit cards will work overseas before leaving on their trip!

My bank, Wahington Mutual, has an automatic security feature that you must call and notify them of your trip prior to use. Otherwise, the charges will be declined.

They explained the international charge would automatically trigger red flags with their security office to place the entire account on hold.

I gave them the name and phone number of the hotel I'm staying at, and they updated my records to ensure hassle free access to the funds.

I would hate for anyone to be stuck trying to talk their way out of a hotel bill after the fact, when trying to leave for the airport!

Wish me luck; off for Cali tomorrow!

cdyow comments on Partidos de Eliminatoria September 3 & 4

look at original post please. meteoro-

hi there. sorry if i'm being too sensitive to your reply, but, kikiortiz clearly stated in the original post that he thought the game was in atlanta, georgia. so i based my search for the match information beginning with that premise. i saw your advertisement for the satellite service. thanx. good info. i was still trying to find specific location and ticket information. but no thanks for the attitude. (if i misunderstood kiki, and he's saying he lives in atlanta and wants to watch on tv...then my mistake....but no need to come out swinging)

cdyow comments on Let's update this dictionary of Colombian words

follar just received an email from a calena. she had been missing for a couple of weeks because according to her, the computer was follando

cdyow comments on Partidos de Eliminatoria September 3 & 4

no-one knows anything I've spoken to the Atlanta Tourism and Concention Bureau and the staff of Atlanta's professional soccer team, the Silverbacks.

No one has heard any information regarding a world cup qualifying match taking place in Atlanta.

Either this is the worst promotional effort ever, or somehow the Atlanta location is incorrect.

If anyone can track this down, please let us know.

According to Soccer365.com, "Uruguay will welcome Colombia to Montevideo on 04 September..."

cdyow comments on Colombian Style Salsa

i'm interested i live in miami, and you can count me as interested in this idea.
not sure how quickly i'd be ready to go into any actual clubs though!

cdyow comments on A Little Something on ATM Withdrawls...

paying for hotel Thanks for the info gator. I'll be making my first trip to Colombia this weekend, the 26th - 28th.

I plan on taking only my visa logo debit card, so just in case the worst were to happen, there is only a specific dollar value in that account that I could possibly lose.

My question regarding exchange rates however is this: when it comes time to pay for my hotel room, is there any advantage to having withdrawn pesos from an ATM there and pay them in pesos? Or should I just pay with the debit card?

thanks in advance.
Chris
