Honestly, When I was in Quibdo this past summer the river dredges that I have many fotos of were locked down. These dredge were typically operated by Colombians. The Government have them shut down under the auspices that "The Farc" were operating them and the gold was being stolen and removed from the country. The word on the street was that there in Quibdo a large "Canadian" mining company was doing all the mining now. The military was active on the rivers making sure nobody was mining that did not have the nod from the government. I took fotos of the locals panning and some were filling dump trucks full with river sludge and taking it outside the city and sifting it there in order to not get caught! So, there are some truths about what you posted. Just I don't have specific company names! I f you want to see fotos let me know I took tons..I posted some on here earlier under "Street scenes from El Choco" or something like that!

Medellin is mystical and stands on its own..it does not need the Pomp & Circumcision as the post tries to cut. What? Medellin is nice because it has shiny new buildings and shiny new malls? I own a few Italian Restaurants in and around DC/Baltimore as many of you know. My first few trips to Colombia I wanted to cook some friends something nice. After going to the Grocery stores in Medellin, checking out the Sauces and stuff, I chose to just fix Hot Dogs and Apple Pie! The Pasta selections aren"t that bad, as mentioned..DeCecco and Barilla are good brands actually. Tomato sauces and most importantly quality cheese just sucks real bad ! I think it is why most of the pizza sucks also obviously.

I totally agree with Peter, and I know this is a shocker but I can be serious.. We fool ourselves to think we can govern a somewhat public website! Yes to some degree the personal attacks and profanity may be out of order ! This is the world and it is reality! You cannot come inter cyber space and expect to live in a bubble!
