Accomodations No doubt, our room is clean, pleasant, no sauna, no wet bar, but you get the all the free calls, help with your Spanish, cable TV, and good food. The laundry service is so cheap you'll dream you did it yourself.
We are trying to help folks enjoy this great city. Not trying to make a buck for ourselves. If you want to complain, post your own listing.

Guide service $$$ 12 per hour VERSUS $25 per day?? I will gladly make it clear, that we provide a private guide service available in Cali for $25.00 for a 12 hour day. Not $12. per hour.
Perhaps there are those that might send to the store for whatever they want... But it is just as easy to go to the store and pick up what you want if you need assistance our guide is there to help at every step. I particularly enjoy going to the supermarket in a foreign place, and like looking at all the interesting and different items on the shelves. You never know what you might like. Thanks for the comment, but $25 dollars a day beats $12 an hour anytime. Especially in Cali's economy.

Room or Hotel We have found the Hotel Ciar to be quite affordable, clean and friendly. We paid about $175. per week with laundry and breakfast included. They are close to the Centro Commercial Sears in the Barrio Sears ( there used to be a Sears Roebuck and Company store nearby). A nice neighborhood with good shopping, neighborhood casinos with nice looking attendants, everything you might need close at hand. In the same block to the west, a LADY usually has a couple of apartments for rent at 150.00 per month.

Hello Scotty! Our accomodation in Cali is in a good part of the city. You have use of the facilities in the entire apartment. We have Cable TV with CNN and everything you see in the US most of which is dubbed in Spanish but understandable. We have free local phone service in Cali. Private laundry service is available at minimal costs to you. We think you'll be very happy. Our guide Sr. Plaza is your host. He is available for guide service at $25. per day plus meals, & cab fare and you won't find this anywhere else. If you care for beer, liquors, other soft drinks or special foods you can purchase them at the market and bring them up with you. We also offer private transportation to and from the airport.
If you want to rent a car, National has a franchise in Cali that we have found to be reasonable.
Driving is aggressive but we have had no problems there. Most folks have no auto insurance, so they're looking our for one another a little better than here at home.
If you have any questions, or have someone else interested, let us know. We also have accomodations in Tulua, and can personally recommend a swell little hotel in Bogota!!

Calling US to Colombia We have used a company we found on the web called WORLD XCHANGE for many years now. They have competitive rates and offer calling cards too. We have our long distance service with them and it has saved us thousands over the other carriers. With free state side longdistance on our cell phones our long winded calls to Colombia never exceed $200 a month. Most of the time much less.

Stun gun???? If you are fearful stay at home. You can run into much more unexpected trouble in the states by making a trip to Albertson's. In Colombia, on the other hand you expect it but nothing ever happens.
We were in a rented car traveling to Tulua from Cali once and got stopped by the guerilla army. A mess of guys wearing ski masks and carrying automatic weapons. I explained honestly who I was and where I was headed and they let us go on no problem. Later on with a friend driving a Model A Ford, we encountered another larger group on Motorcycles, followed by a truck. These guys all waved and cheered!!
If you want to have some serious trouble, however yourself, take a stun gun and you are more than likely to have your luggage searched on arriving. It won't be pleasant. Never take pepper spray or anything else on planes in checked or unchecked luggage.
Stay out of questionable places, and you'll never have a problem!
If you're looking for excitement, it will find you and it may not be what you're wanting.

Hotel Valle The hotel Valle is clean and the rooms are spacious. You dont have the movie star accomodations that you have at the intercontinental or access to the casinos or the great Pizza in the outdoor restaurant that you have at the Intercontinental, but you can snooze quite well.

Security, no problem. If you want safe transportation to and from the airport contact us. We'll have our private driver greet you and escort you safely to any area hotel in Cali. We have a client staying with us there now.
Cali isn't as big a threat as some of OUR larger cities. Just don't let on that you are from the states and most folks will not know. Watch how the locals dress and dress accordingly. We went up to el Cristo Rey ( Christ the King) against solid advice, several years ago in a rented car, and were enjoying the view, until one of our friends shouted out from across the plaza how great the view was in English.
Needless to say we gathered ourselves and went to the car rather promptly. If you need help with anything, let me know, I am familiar with Cali quite well, and fully able to advise.
