Safety in Medellin

I was in Medellin last week, staying near Parque Lleras. One day I took a taxi to Parque Bolivar, had lunch near there, wandered around a bit, and then meandered south and west. I found myself at Parque San Antonio and took a taxi back to Parque Lleras from there. I told a local friend about this and she was like "I can't believe you did that. Parque San Antonio!" I didn't feel at all unsafe though. I would not want to go north of centro alone on foot but I didn't see any territory that ...
