Maybe the best thing to do would be to ban some of these posters until they reach a certain age and or maturity level.

LOL / What should we steal?
Tea and Crumpets?!?!?

Calinomadic comments on Too bad it has to be this way.

I have to agree with andrew24.... There is no excuse for stealing vegetables from someone elses basket. Whether you are an old fart - whether they were not looking or not - that is extremely rude. But if they were hot....."Well, HOT would work as an excuse for me.

True, and to be fair.... only a certain part of society.

You know, I had a couple of lady friends in Costa, one born there and another born from Colombia. They would always want to know this and that about Los Angeles, what it was like, movie stars, etc. I would try to tell them how beautiful and simplistic the place in which they lived, and how much gratitude they should have for being there - but they never listened to what I was saying. Funny though, when they would ask about it.....it was like they were going off in there own heads about a magical place like Disneyland! It made me think of differences in realities. Hmmmmm maybe us gringos are just an extension to some of those far off realities / desires. But to be fair to the ladies, I am sure that it is only just a certain portion of that society. =)

Since my first trip to Colombia.... doesn't start until next week.....colombian people being somewhat un-organized as related above is something I have yet to experience first hand myself. But I have traveled to many countries multiple times in Central America and South America. Costa Rica which I have traveled 3x from Nicaragua to Panama and back again, this discussion has came up once or twice with my friends. If anyone has been to Costa Rica, then they understand what is called "Tico Time" and I would say the majority of the ticas and ticos that I have met - move at a very slow pace. As well, there seems to be a lack in self confidence in speaking and or expressing themselves especially to a gringo. I think in some ways we confuse them? For instance: I have been in the smallest of towns 4:00AM, drinking all night long, not another gringo in site. When the policia drive bye, we wave to them, and they can't put there hands up fast enough to waive back to us. During my younger years, we had been pulled over many times w/ herb burning, speeding from what they say, and when they walk up to the car to talk w/ us, they seem so confused on what to say to us we have to help them complete there jobs / sentences. But always, nice people in general.

You know, I thought when I found this site that I would get some valuable information on here. But instead of hearing people talk about there travels, opinions, etc. which really helps me with my up-coming trip, I have to read through stupid ass replies after stupid ass replies from three year olds - that have nothing valuable to offer here. Go to myspace, morons.

Calinomadic comments on Colombia 12-days / In Bogota - Out Cartagena...How would you spend it?

Hey.....Nothing at all against Azul or Saltador I was just responding back in general to make that interest clear. Been reading through this site for quite awhile, and although getting some ass is very nice, I don't have to spend $600.00USD and 7hrs on a flight to get it like some oogly mooglies on here. Cheers!

Calinomadic comments on Colombia 12-days / In Bogota - Out Cartagena...How would you spend it?

Unfortunately I hate to dissapoint some of you.... on here, but the plan is not to hook up w/ as many colombianas as posssible. I know it's not a lot of time, but I want to see some culture, some nature, I want to see as much as I can of Colombia in the short time that I have. Plan on staying a couple days in Taganga, rather Santa Marta. Thinking a lil Buca, Barranquilla too. Just trying to decide how to split my time, and don't want to spend too much time on buses. I can fly if need be. Thanks!

Hmmmmm..... "If I had the deceased's family here I'd tell them the truth to their faces, that I'd have a helluva hard time believing that he was an innocent victim. Just like when I was at that funeral for the 15 year old kid in Toronto who choked on his own puke, I told them the kid was an idiot for drinking so much, and the parents were even bigger idiots for not bringing up their kid properly.

Everybody here needs to grab a pair of balls and at least pretend like they are yours! Death happens all the time, get used to it. It's not going away any time soon (thank God for small favors)!"

Sometimes, the hardest things to do in life are the things you know you have to do. And when someone loses life, family, friends, etc. the right thing to do is to shut your mouth and show some respect.

Yah right. Grab your balls - spout off like that - find yourself KO'd.

Big world w/ lot's of different people and lot's of different opinions.

If you have a true understanding of that, then you can understand why people might kill, whether right or wrong. How people can find themselves victim to such a tragedy, and those who suffer the most by losing life through such a tragedy. But none of it is funny, escpecially when it hits home. There is nothing sarcastic about the loss of life. Honestly, I think the sarcasm comes from those w/ bad genetics.

And no Aztec, your post doesn't sound snobbish at all. Thanks!

Calinomadic comments on Different Areas within Bogota...

And really... what we are looking for is an area where we can feel comfortable, getting around here and there - walking to get some coffee in the morning, a bite to eat, etc. We are aged 28-30, not to old and not to young. But there will be times where we will be drinking, I imagine that. We will only be in Bogota for 4-days, and I would like for them to be comfortable. I have been to Argentina a couple of times, so I wonder the comparisons between candelaria w/ palermo and the zona rosa with recoleta? Two different places I know. Thanks again all! Any good restaurants worth mentioning?

Calinomadic comments on Different Areas within Bogota...

So, if you were going trying to locate a hotel in the price range of around $100.00USD a night, what would be a good recommendation? Also, dangerous to walk late night around Zona Rosa? Or taxi's everywhere?

Calinomadic comments on Bus Bogota to Santa Marta

Appreciate all the help....Thanks!
This is my first trip to Colombia, a long time dream of mine. My flight back to L.A. leaves from Cartegna so I have to make my way there. I am thinking flying would be best to save some time as I only have 12-days. Price one way from Bogota to Santa Marta roughly ($100USD) Will wait till I get to Bogota to purchase. Just recently took a bus from Santiago, Chile to Buenos Aires over the Andes ($45USD)20hrs, interesting. I have been reading this forum for awhile and it looks like Don Gringo is the main man. ??? For you Don: Any good restaurants in Bogota that you can recommend? Decemt priced, view of the city - first night there? Gratitude.
