NYC Colombian Festival

It's supposedly this Sunday in Flushing Meadows Park. Anyone going? It was very poorly advertised this year- anyone know why? There are, like, no ads around this area. Are they trying to do away with it? ...

Good Dermotologist in Bogota?

I am looking for a good recommended dermotologist in Bogota that can help clear up my face. Anybody have any recommendations?

Buses to Viota/Tocaima from Bogota?

Where in Bogota could a catch a bus to Tocaima or Viota? I have driven there in car, which took about two hours, but never in bus. I am really not even sure where exactly the bus terminal is here except that it is in the westrern part of the city.

Any other place (warm) that I could go to for the day? Have been to Villa de Leyva and Zipaquira. Otras ideas? Any other nice pueblitos 2-3 hours from here that i could return to by night? ...

I am posting the details below. Anyone ever been to this place? I've heard of it. Is it like Crepes & Waffles? Anyway, let me know if any of you are going.

Suggestion

Here I am stuck inside because of a bad sunburn from over the weekend. I was thinking that in Travel Guides there could be a subsection of transportation guides (i.e, Transmilenio, flotas between cities, taxi info, etc.). and a section about restaurant in each major city. I notice that some restaurants are named but many have no addresses or even vicinity attached. I was thinking that we could do Bogota, Medellin, Cali, Cartagena, etc. and first highlight the restaurants that prepare Colombian f ...

Hair Straightening

Strange question...

I am living in Bogota and I have wavy hair. It has always taken a little more effort to make the waves look good or else to make it straighter. I have fine hair, so I don't like to blow-dry it. The heat and a touch of humidity just ruins it and just don't want to deal wth it anymore.

I was wondering where I could buy a hair straightener (relaxer) in Bogota. I know that in NY they have a million for Black/mulata hair and a few for White hair, but ...

Search: no fee, Studio or 1 BR apt in Queens

I was wondering if anyone here had an apartment in Queens, New York for rent (Elmhurst, Jackson Heights, Sunnyside, Woodside, LIC, Rego Park, etc.) for rent or knew about one for rent for February 1st or 15th. I can pay up to $850 and if it comes with utilities, great. I prefer not to live in a basement.

Thanks a lot and have a great day. ...

José Marie Córdova Airport

I might have to fly into this airport with a few hour layover. Where exactly is the airport located (neighborhood)? Is it safe? is there anything you could do in 6 hours around there?

Colombian Gift Shops/Specilaty Stores in NYC area

Colombian Businesses in New York City

I know this is similar to the post about Jackson Heights, but let's see if we can change it a bit. I want to try to make a "directory" of Colombian businesses in NYC area(not just limited to Jackson Heights) that would include bakeres, restaurants, bars, gift shops, etc.

I'd like if you could include the name, what it is (restaurant? panadería?), the approximate location (i.e, near the 90th St.-Elmhurst Ave. stop on the 7 train, near 86 St. and 37th Ave.), and what you liked abo ...

Something Needs to Dramatically Change on This Website

This thread has probably run its course. If you want to continue discussing it, open a new thread but discuss the issue, not the person. Reminder: personal insults are against the site rules. -Moderators

This is something I've thought for quite a while but seeing that other "Colombia Forum" really was the catalyst for writing this post. I recognized a lot of people on that board as people who regularly post here through their nam ...

Inquiring Minds Want to Know: The Real Deal with Colombians GFs./Fiancees

Before you get ready to flag this thread, please hear me out. I am going to try to consolidate into this thread what has been written in dozens of other threads. Ok, I have gotten past the 50-something fat, balding American with a 22 year old beautiful Colombian girlfriend thing. What I'm curious about now is this issue about American men sending their GF/fiancee money to Colombia. There is currently one thread here where an American man is questioning how much money to send his Colombian fiance ...

Prices in Cali

Hi. I am going to Cali in January. I will be there for probably 3 weeks. I am staying in a friend's home. I would like to know how much money to bring for three weeks (factor in day trips, food, souvenirs, misc. expenses, etc.) I know the American dollar is much more powerful in Colombia, but I'd like to know exactly how much I'll probably use.

Also, what are prices like there? For a meal a a decent restaurant? A movie ticket? Shampoo? Phone cards? Etc.? And how does it work when ...

Cheapest Way to Buy Tickets to Colombia

As I said in a previous post, I may be going to (Cali) Colombia in January for 2-3 weeks. I am a student and my cash flow is not too great. I will probably buy my tickets in late November/early December. I live in New York City (maybe you live here too and got a great deal on tickets somewhere?).

Question:

Where is the best place to purchase my tickets (ida y vuelta) and the most reliable? I intend on flying Avianca because it seems to be the cheapest (I saw fligh ...
