Brian858 comments on Health insurance. Sorry I meant I pay $160,000. per month which is around $80 USD per month with Colsanitas for pre-paid medical. Is it possible for foreigners to only have EPS? Is the pre-paid really worth all of the extra money? What are the main differences in the two?
|
|
Brian858 comments on Health insurance. Lowell, how much are your co-pays per visit? I have Colsanitas and pay $80,000 per month plus a $22,000 voucher everytime I see the Dr. unless I'm seeing the same Dr. for a follow up visit within 7 business days. Are you part of a group plan or individual?

Brian858 comments on Outages dim Chavez popularity I'm pissed with Uribe. I just had a 2 hour power outage this morning. It started 10 minutes into the Liverpool vs Man City game! This isn't the first time we have had an extended outage. A few months back the power was off from 7am to 6pm!

Brian858 comments on Fort Lauderdale, FL to Santa Marta or Cartagena $199 one way. No limit on luggage - 1 day sale. Well, the price right now is $299 only $100 dollars more. It is still a good deal considering the amount of weight you can bring on. Anyone have an estimate on what it would cost to fly one way from Miami or Ft. Lauderdale to Santa Marta with 10 suitcases weighing 100lbs each?

Brian858 comments on Offered my first job in Colombia today at a bi-lingual school in Barranquilla. Miguel, I would like to know the name of your friend at Uninorte. I'm currently taking Spanish classes there and would like to get 6 mil / month. I was interviewing for 20 mil / month for a position in Bogota with an American Oil Company in IT. I would much prefer to work in Education as that is where I started my career. I really liked the work but with VEEP program in California that brought the entire Education system to it's knees. All the people with money put there children in private schools. I felt as though I was working as a prison warden!

Brian858 comments on Offered my first job in Colombia today at a bi-lingual school in Barranquilla. Thanks for the input Bill Turley. What do you think would be an honest salary? Hourly and Monthly? The headmaster did say that he had friends at other schools that he could refer me to if the salary wasn't sufficient. Also, that he would want me to teach part time if I were to take a fulltime position at another University for more money.

Brian858 comments on Offered my first job in Colombia today at a bi-lingual school in Barranquilla. They have 0 native English teachers. They are just changing to a Bi-lingual school status in Jan/2010. The program is being setup now. The school is under new ownership and was closed for 1 year. The principal told me the students pay about $200,000 per month and they have about 200 students.

Brian858 comments on Offered my first job in Colombia today at a bi-lingual school in Barranquilla. I'm already in Barranquilla been here for 2 weeks. So the school should give me the money that they would have to pay someone that they recruit from outside they country....ie..stipend for apartment and basic bills; flights for beginning and end of contract; The salary will be in pesos. He asked my how much I wanted and I said I would get back to them. I've had people who are teachers say I should ask for 2.5 to 3.0 Million per month plus benefits. Another person said the minimum I should accept is 1.5 million. The school also offered the possibility of part time work. If I take that what would you think the minimum per hour would be. And how would that affect the benefits package?

Brian858 comments on Fort Lauderdale, FL to Santa Marta or Cartagena $199 one way. No limit on luggage - 1 day sale. Yes, you can do all of that. I just did 9 suitcases at approx 100lbs each from San Diego, CA to Cartagena. I disembarked in C/gena without any hastles. They didn't even check any of my bags or ask what I was bringing. Just let the cruise line know ahead of time that you plan on getting off early.

Brian858 comments on One-way flight from BAQ, SMR or CTG to FLL or MIA- What is the best price you have found? No, you can leave the ship early. I was told I needed a letter from the corporate headquarters of Celebrity. I brought this with me but was never asked for it on the ship. I just went up to the desk on the ship and told them I wanted to get off in Cartagena. They have you fill out a form of Early disembarkation and your done. They call your cabin in the morning of your departure and you have your passport stamped with the Colombian Immigration on the ship. Don't pay them any money if they ask you. They asked me for $35 or 70 mil pesos for entry fee to Colombia. I asked for a receipt and they balked. I told them I would go to their office on the port but I didn't show up after researching further.
