As evidenced from this reporting by Al Jazeera, Barack Obama has gained symbolic stature. Obama represents the fight of the Black man to power for black Brazilians. A symbol of success and a symbol of change to traditional racial hegemony. Brazil a country of 190 million people with 90 million self-described black individuals has never had a black president.

august says on Oct 10, 2008, 23:32: Interesting video, that's some serious admiration. I think it's pretty safe to say at this stage that most people of African decent on all sides of the Atlantic, but especially in the Americas, are looking towards this election as a turning point.
