"one can get murdered just for walking on the street after a certain hour of the night, usually after 10:00 pm" sigh....and we wonder why people continue to have such fear of Colombia. These types of comments being thrown around by people who claim knowledge of Colombia and ever advertise it in their own websites?????? Well, at least this will keep COL from becoming another Costa Rica anytime soon!

OK... here it is..." lovemedellin, then why did you plug yourself twice and continue the mistake? And THREE plugs in one day? Geez....Peter? Moderators? Simple Vaughnyb...stay away from taking too much advice from people that don't have that much to give. Also don't pay people to do the same work you can easily do on your own. #1. Come down and rent a private room at www.tigerpawhostel.com for you and the wifey. Nice place, great location and upscale setting for the private room thing along with a fantastic price that doesnt come close to your $40.00 night budget. (no I dont own the place) #2 When you get here, search the local classifieds for PRIVATELY OWNED apartments for rent (ones that don't have the bold name of a rental company listed with the phone number, or have like 5 numbers listed) It's pretty hard to rent from a rental agency as new transplants (wo cedula, credit, bank accounts and such), so your easiest and safest bet is to rent privately and plan to pay a 6 month advance rent just to satisfy the owner and get in quickly. There you go...everything you needed right here on PBH and didnt even have to venture off to other fly-by-night websites or pay people to do work for you. I think you'll find a plethora of information here that will keep you busy and satisfied!

The picture above is nothing short of accurate, and I will add that it is COMMON KNOWLEDGE that the hottest women of South American are located in Peru. Might want to see if you can switch your trip there for a much better adventure!

I had to spend several very cold mornings (around 4:30 am) with a shotgun in my hand, in a farm field, looking up to the sky for some dangerous fowl. El Poblado, don't go to El Campo either!" The ONLY scary things about El Campo are the high percentage of inbred country-folk and the local Hospital which is now abandoned and used as the "haunted house" for halloweens! I don't suggest visiting either one! :)

I went home last Christmas after 9 months in Colombia and was disgusted...horrified...at the lack of quality I saw, realizing how spoiled I had become! Sure, everywhere has fat ugly girls, but this is how I explain it to my friends. In the US, when you go to the mall, you usually have to search for a HOT girls. In Colombia, when you go to the mall, you usually have to search for the UGLY girls! By the way, those of you who are speaking of Colombian girls not being supermodel quality, are mistaken. You are narrowing the "supermodel" stigma to only the underweight, leif-styled girls that look like crackheads...when really the "supermodel" and "superstardom" goes way beyond that. Look at the trends, the new "thin" is not so think like it used to be.

You usually have to be in a low-end barrio to get lower prices such as 1200-1500 per beer. The standard across most of the city is 2000. Most bars and nightclubs charge anywhere from a minumum 2500 to 6000 max! I think Brian is being more than fair and very reasonable considering his location! If you are going to bitch about 2000 COP for a beer in Lleras you ought to stay the hell home and drink from your private stash....GEEZ!

As for Cowboys? I might have a packed house myself with my plans for the year. The 'Boys on the bigscreen, surround sound, and pizza for all the fanatics!

bradenmiami comments on How much to bring my car from Miami Just send it down and take it out of the country once every 6 months ( weekend vacation to Venezuela or Ecuador!), renewing at DIAN for the 3 month interval. Importing new is pointless, and you might as well just pay a bit more to buy the same car here new....only paying the bit extra for the dealer to do all the hassle. Last option is to be smart and economical, and buy a little reasonable car here for the prices listed above. Not sure what it is you are trying to hold on to from back home, but chances are it might not even be a smart car to have here.
