PBH members in Atlantico this Dec/Jan ?

So, you've shelled out the exorbitant prices for a ticket
to Colombia in December. Sucker! Ahem, er, well, you see,
I have also.

Anyone planning to be on the coast late December - Early January?
Lets have a beer or two. I'll probably mostly be in BAQ,
but plan on some trips to Cartagena or Santa Marta.

This trip I am hoping to see Mompox/Mompos. I've heard that
you can get there by boat from Barranquilla. Anyone here ever

Selling gold coins in Colombia... How difficult?

On the off chance that any lurkers out there may have some experience with
this...
How difficult would it be to sell some Krugerrands (or any other major gold
bullion) in Colombia? By "difficult" I suppose I mean would the price not
be robbery. Here in the USA you could sell them for just a wee bit below
the spot price of gold. Is this the case in Colombia as well?

Who is the boggeyman?

Folks, how would a Colombian child identify the boogeyman? You know,
the scary -something- under the bed or in the closet? Can any natives
tell me what words for this they may be used?

Thanks,

Wanted: photos of Mompos

Does anyone have photos of Mompos they'd be willing to share?

Thanks,

A rose by any other name...

Or, rather, hops. Would anyone know, or know where I could
find, the Spanish word for "hops" (humulus lupulus)? I found
it quite difficult to discuss the ingredients of beer without
knowing what to call this plant!

I guess the most interesting bit was Zipaquira - the iglesia de sal.

Interesting Barranquilla website

Here's an interesting (at least to me...) spot I stumbled on:

Some of the links are useful too. It's not always easy to find
info about Colombia online....

Modem from US in Colombia?

Hello all. I know nothing of Colombian telephone standards, and have not been able to find anything on the web....

So, my question is this: will my modem from the US function in Colombia? Do they have the same RJ-11 jacks there, or must I buy some converter? Any special software configuration to work with the local phone system?

Thanks. ...

Colombia photos

Hi folks. I went to Colombia for the month of May. Perhaps some people may be interested in my travel photos. You can view them here:

http://www.pbase.com/bhill94087/colombia_2004

A very interesting country. I visited Cartagena, Barranquilla, Santa Marta & Parque Tayrona.

I'd like to go back and visit Bogota and various other spots, too. Certainly a bit more adventurous than other travel destinations. When I was out of the tourist spots I met a ...
