b bruce comments on More military comming to Colombia...Curfew needed I would imagine there are more Colombian soldiers and sailors training in the U.S. then we have there. Helicoptor pilots, etc. Southern Command floats people in and out, put we will not have a permenent presence. The military support contractors are in it for the long haul.

b bruce comments on Chavez is lining up, but would the US public support another war effort Colombia would kick the living dog poop out of Venezuela! A good friend of mine who is in the Venezuelan Air Force tells me the new Soviet fighter jets Chavez purchased have been sitting in the hanger for months. He does not trust anyone enough to let them fly them. Seems they could be turned on him. Very interesting.

b bruce comments on Excellent, thank you. Our college library does not have any books about Colombia. Not even a travel guide. The last time I found a good book about Colombia on a book shelve was in a great little book store in Bogota's airport during a lay over. Other wise I will oeder something from Amazon.com

b bruce comments on Colombia's President Alvaro Uribe to receive Nobel Peace prize Please, Al Gore is so full of poop he has gained weight from it. He was on Meet the Press here in the states last week spewing his bullshit! Global Warming is the new Communisum! But you could tell he was panicing about the possibility of the U.S beginning to drill for our own oil and natural gas. Nancy Polosi U.S. House of Representatives and Harry Reid U.S. Senate refuse to let drilling go to a vote on the floor. Because they know even their fellow liberals will vote for drilling. The american people are pissed! This is perfect timing when it looked like the Republicans were going to take it on the chin in the next elections. Al Gore and the liberal democrates are being exposed for the thugs they really are! Hell yes, Uribe certainly deserves the Nobel!!!!

b bruce comments on anyone ever experienced baggage theft on an airline Always a good idea to use plastic tie raps on your luggage after it is screened. If it is tampered with you will know immediately. I worked for Alaska Airlines for several years in Seattle. Baggage theft usually happens when the bags sit at one location for a while. Avianca in Ft Lauderdale is pretty squared away. A company named ASIG does the baggage handling for them in Ft Lauderdale. When you have a ground service company as an airlines service contract things seem to disappear and or get lost.

b bruce comments on Dollar hits new low against Colombian peso and Brazilian Real, wonderful!!!! Joel y Luza! The Katrina bitching has all but been worn out. Look at the devestation going on with the flooding in the mid west. Do you see those people just sitting there waiting for some one to carry them to safety? Do you see them looting stores for tennis shoes and murdering each other? No. A little bit of pride goes a long way.It works from the bottom up, not the top down. That is why we have city and state governments! The city of New Orleans (MOST CORRUPT IN THE NATION) did very little to help it's own people. Mayor Ray Nagan should have been put in jail for neglegence. You had half of a city that has been on the federal dole for so long they didn't know how to help themselves. Never had to, Uncle Suger provided them with food stamps and welfare. I wouldn't worry about the value of the dollar for very much longer. The Bushman has called for the drilling of our own oil and natural gas resources. The congressmen and senators are getting bitch slapped by those who vote for them. So now as the American people are getting more angry and more organized against the high prices of fuel and food something will give. The liberal dems and environmentalists are painted in to a corner. We will begin to drill our own oil and natural gas, mine our own coal, and build new refineries and nuclear power plants. Unfortunately it took $5.00 gallon of gas to wake the sleeping giant. Common sense will win the day.

b bruce comments on TWO VIEWS: We need to stand by our staunch allies like Colombia Here in South Florida have a women born in Colombia running as a Democrat against Congresswoman Illiana Ross Latinen. She is against the FTA. These liberals are so blind due to their hatred of Bush they are willing to hurt the very country they come from. I will find out more about her so I can post the info in the future. Perhaps if she goes home to visit family someone will kick her dead in the ass!

b bruce comments on Spirit Airlines Where are you flying from in the US? If need be, I can run over to the Ft Lauderdale airport for you (half mile) and go head to head with someone at Spirit. My cell number is 954-534-3885. I live in Dania Beach a stones throw from FLL airport. Not a problem to run it down for you.I worked at the airport until one month ago for Skybus Airlines that went belly up unfortunately, but I still have contacts.

b bruce comments on Mc Cain in COL If you think the Dem's aka liberal left wing scumbags in Washington DC will support the Colombia Free Trade Agreement you are out of your f___king mind! The libs are in the wallet pocket of the not so big anymore unions. Which in turn is pretty much organized crime! They scream about jobs moving overseas, when in fact the corporations in the USA are the second most taxed out there behind Japan. The unions here are screaming about human rights issues in Colombia. They seemed to have forgotten that this country was pretty violent as well in the early 20th century when the unions were trying to organize. The unionists murdered the Governor of Idaho over the mining riots! If we would have the opportunity to drill for our own oil and natural gas, which there is plenty of in the USA, we could pull out of Iraq and let Iraq settle their own dispute. We removed Sadam, we did our part. In short John McCain or Barak Yo Mama are not the answer for a strong USA. Two peas from a rotten pod! But at least McCain wouldn't kiss Hugo Chavez's feet. Obama would hug him as his favorite Venezuelan socialist idol!

b bruce comments on Hey, I thought Hillary gave her concession speech to Obama for the purpose of moving to Colombia to lead the Farc. Isn't that what she meant by a woman being Commander and Chief? Hell, those pants suits won't hold up well in the jungles or mountains of Colombia. But the Farc will have a leader they can believe in!

b bruce comments on Venezuela's Chávez Urges End to Colombia Insurgency - WSJ I am so sick of this idiot's babble. He needs to be pee tested, he's smoking crack again! How many personalities are you permitted to have in Venezuelan politic's? He always seems to become a humanitarian every time his government gets caught supporting the FARC. I pray that someone is smuggling guns into his country to over throw his lame ass! Venezuela desirves better.

b bruce comments on colombian history I was just about to enter a post on this subject.I just purchased "The Making of Modern Colombia" A country in spite of itself. David Bushnell 1993. I cannot put it down. Very informative! David Bushnell is a Professor Emeritus of History at the University of Florida. He has spent a lot of time in Colombia and has certainly done his homework. Very well done! Hey Simon, read the book. I believe you would agree, Bushnell did a very good job!

b bruce comments on Looking for an apartment in Seattle????? The Alki Point area is nice. I lived south closer to Tacoma, but the price was right! Two bedroom house, large back yard for dog $600.00 per month. What I would suggest is check out some of the rags in the U district. Some very good deals on apartments due to the University of W. Good luck!

b bruce comments on woman with lion from jungle of colombia Years ago when I was living in Key West (1992), We had a stranding of some pilot whales. I was working at the Reach Resort at the time on the Atlantic side. The majority of the whales were stranded on the Gulf side. We had one on the beach at the Reach Resort. She was approximately fourteen foot long and eleven hundred pounds. To make a long story short. I ended up spending the entire night in the water with her. She kept listing over which would submerge her blow hole. I also had to make sure she stayed in deep enough water where she would not sufficate from her own weight. Thank god for the Dolphin Research Center in the Keys. They assited the Navy and Coast Guard with the whales stranded on the Gulf side, then came to help me. Ryder Truck Rentals donated a truck, Key West Crane donated a Crane and the U.S. Navy donated a large sling to get her ( who we named Bonnie) out of the water. We managed to get her out of the water safely and into the truck, keeping her soaked down as they moved her up to the Dolphin Research Center. Weeks later the research center telephoned me to say someone wanted to see me. I drove up to the Dolphin Research Center the next day. There she was moving about in a large holding area. Wow, this wasn't the listless whale I had spent the night in the water with. This was a large pilot whale swimming about. With the assistance of one of the researchers, I moved close to the holding tank. Bonnie swam by and looked right at me. I remembered that look, I spent the entire night in the water with her looking in that eye as I spoke to her to get her through the night. When I finally slipped into the water this amazing creature gracefully moved up sliding up against me leaning on me. The researchers said it was her way of giving me a hug. I looked in that eye and knew she remembered me. It was an amazing experience. These creatures do not forget! Of the whales that were stranded that day and night only few survived. The pod on the Gulf side of the island were a typical follow the leader stranding. In Bonnies case, she was having problems with a pregnancy. Once she delivered a still born pup she bounced back. Bonnie buddied up with another one of the stranded pilot whales that survived named Baby Schwarzkolf. They were tagged so they could monitor their progress and returned to the ocean soon after. I do not have a video of the experience, but some very good photo's. I am on the beach or the ocean each and everyday here in South Florida. I can't help but to look out at the ocean and wonder how she is doing today!

b bruce comments on I have found Aguila in the beverage side of Walgreens in Hollywood, Florida. I like the stuff when I am in Colombia because it so light. I compare it to Rolling Rock which you can drink a lot of and still function the next day. Colombia Club is a lot like Bud, a heavy beer that fills you up. We were drinking Aguila a few weekends ago while out on a 33 foot sailboat watching "Captain Ron" on the VHS player. My friends enjoyed the Colombian beer! Ah, life on the water! Viva Colombia

b bruce comments on But seriously: What about Uribe Uribe has done a very good job as the leader of Colombia. Look at the success against the FARC. The disarming of the most of the paramilitary, the economy due to international investment. Not to mention, the fools who run Venezuela and Ecuador have been supporting the bad guys in Colombia working against all Uribe has accomplished. He has made the Colombian people proud. He is also very popular with most leaders around the world.

b bruce comments on Hotel Majestic, Barranquilla? Greetings, The Hotel Majestic is always my jump off point when I fly in to Barranquilla on my way to Santa Marta. The hotel has a wonderful staff and the place is very nice. I was there about one year ago. $42.00 U.S. per night includes breakfast and complmentary cocktail in the evening. Check out at 3 pm. They have a nice pool and the building is very secure. Easy walking distance to the El Prado district, plus the neighborhood is safe. I first discovered the place from my Lonely Planet Guide Colombia.

b bruce comments on I wonder how Uncle Hugo is going to handle the surrender of the FARC? I am sure they were a major part of his master socialist plan for South America's New Deal! If they do put down their guns and free the hostages, wonderful Colombia is in for one hell of a "Peace at Last Party!"

b bruce comments on Santa Marta Santa Marta is the best of all worlds as coastal Colombia goes. Santa Marta the city has everything you need from shopping to inexpensive places to stay. Rodadero which is like a mini-Cancun, is just a short trip by bus or taxi southwest of Santa Marta. Taganga which is a short distance to the northeast, is a small fishing village with a few good scuba dive outfits. My last trip to Santa Marta, I went on a dive trip into the National Park Tayrona. One excellent experience. Had the opportunity to see a coral reef that was not over overwhelmed by tourists and commercial dive companies as Key West has been. Just one more term of school (fall) then I am moving to Santa Marta. I would suggest getting a Lonely Planet Guide Colombia. Has excellent info about places to stay, places to eat etc. Try it, I think you will enjoy it!

b bruce comments on The Last Days Of The FARC In COLOMBIA Yes, Very good article indeed. In todays Miami Herald South Florida, there was not one article about Colombia. That could be a good thing!
b bruce comments on Two FARC leaders arrested in Colombia This whole FARC thing has really been unraveling since the raid into Ecuador. Perhaps we really will see peace in wonderful Colombia soon!
b bruce comments on Help me with a general itinerary Get yourself a copy of the Lonely Planet Guide Colombia. I used it for my first trip of many to Santa Marta. There are many nice clean and very inexpensive places to stay in Santa Marta. Plus, the people on the Caribbean coast are very friendly and always helpful.

b bruce comments on Getting the FARC Out of Colombia Bravo, Bravo, Bravo! aztec wonderful post! I think the FARC should take their movement over to Venezuela.President Hugo Chavez (Monkey Boy) is already trying to turn that wonderful country in to a socialist prison like Cuba. Chavez believes he has the momentum to pull it off. So if he is half way there, the FARC would at least stand a chance of perhaps winning. They will never come close to winning in wonderful Colombia! I belieive we will see many more FARC desertions in the coming weeks and months. The Colombia Military has them on the run and they are very disorganized. When Chavez moved his troops to the border after the Ecuador raid, he told the Colombian Army exactly where the FARC were on the Venezuela side of the border. Uncle Hugo's move was to protect the FARC camps, not to protect Venezuela. Uncle Hugo is on barrowed time! Today the CEO's of the big oil companies were before a Senate Sub-Committee again in Washington D.C. Of course the socialist liberals blame the Bushman and Big Oil for sky rocketing oil prices here in the U.S. But the head of Shell Petroleum called the Senators at their own game. He stated in part that at present the oil business in the U.S. is not free trade. He further stated that congress with the backing of the environmentalist movements have not allowed drilling for oil or natural gas, or the building of new refineries in the U.S. for the last thirty years. If you want to help the consumer in the U.S. by lowering fuel prices, we must have the opportunity to drill our own resources. The look on the Senators faces was priceless!!!!!!!!!! Eventually the American people will wake up. And when they do, we will be drilling our own oil and natural gas.The OPEC executives will be throwing themselves out of tenth floor windows when the price of oil comes tumbling down. The best news will be Monkey Boys financial resources will dry up as well. That will be the death blow to the FARC!

b bruce comments on Uribe Resists Rebels' Demands to Withdraw From Strategic Locale If I were the FARC, I would have Uncle Hugo donate money to either the Billary or Obama movement on behalf of the FARC. Perhaps for enough money, they would start pointing fingers at Uribe as the road block toward peace in Colombia. In all seriousness, Uribe will not and should not give in to any demands by these murderous thugs. He and the Colombian military has them on the run and very disorganized. I just pray Hugo Chavez in an attempt to keep the Farc from dissolving, gets caught openly supporting them!
b bruce comments on I believe it will happen sooner then you think! In yesterdays Miami Herald there was a story about one of the top Farc leaders who had surrendered to Police. I believe it was a woman from the Northwestern Coastal Region..
b bruce comments on When will there ever be direct Miami San Anndres service? Hey, Great idea! The U.S. can build a military base there as well.

b bruce comments on Chavez tells Colombia not to build base for US Whoa! What a great idea! Where do we pick up the applications for job opportunities when construction begins?
b bruce comments on Rambo Eat Your Heart Out! Compliments of the super secret unit in the U.S.Army known as the Activity! Who have supported their close allies the Colombians for many years now. See! Plan Colombia does work! And please do not forget, Plan Colombia was started by the Clinton Administration! Viva Colombia!

b bruce comments on Dollar hits 2-month high vs. euro Gentlemen! America as in the United States of America, needs to begin drilling it's own oil and natural gas, tapping it's own resources. The moment a U.S. President signs off on that the dollar will stablize and the price of oil will start coming down. When demand is high and the resources are controlled. Those with the resources control the price. When there is abundance of anything it is cheap. Obama will not be the next President of the United States! He needs just a bit more experience in these tough times (War on Terrorism and the Economy) Also his shady past is slowly catching up to him. But it has made the Democratic race sort of a reality show which is fun to watch! I can imagine Hugo Chavez has slipped the Obama campaigne some money, and I am sure the FBI is watching closely. Unfortunately we will be stuck with the best of the three evils Sen. John McCain!!!! Who has no economic know how! Unfortunately, for those of you who would like to see Obama or Billary in the White House, it will hurt Colombia. Because those two think the world of Fidel and Hugo! But a socialist in the top spot in Colombia? It's back to square one for Colombia. Perhaps a re-visit to much more violent times.
b bruce comments on Scum wearing the army uniform sentenced to rot and die in prison I just hope the warden at the prison they are sent to is not on the payrole as well. Colombia is taking great strides in the war against the FARC and corruption. If only the liberal democrates in U.S. Congress could see this. But most of all, understand what wonderful Colombia has gone through over the last two decades.
b bruce comments on A few Bogota photos: Thank you for the photos! Heading back to Colombia in late July or early August. Unfortunately I have left knee replacement scheduled for May 28. After rehab, I will be ready to go back to beautiful Colombia for some R and R.

b bruce comments on Colombia’s guerrilla commander killed Since those laptops were recovered, seems the bad guys have been taking it on the chin! I wonder if there was any porn on those laptops. Perhaps cousin Hugo in drag, or maybe brother Fidel in panty hose and bra?

b bruce comments on Protecting America from Colombia I still think it was a shake down for badly needed money from the Colombian government at that time. Mark Penn is certainly smarter then Mrs. C. The word got out and they got caught! He took the bullet. The Bill and Hill will sell Chelsey if the money is right!
b bruce comments on In the USA Colombians are switching to Republican, over Hillary and TLC Yeah! I haerd about this movie. Three men and a dike!
b bruce comments on In the USA Colombians are switching to Republican, over Hillary and TLC Most Colombian's I know in South Florida as the Cubans are conservative. The Democrate woman who is running against pro FTA Republican Eliana Ross Latenen is Colombian. She is also pro-union and anti-Colombia Free Trade Agreement. She will get crushed running against the Free Trade Agreement and Ross Latenen in South Florida. Viva Colombia!
b bruce comments on FARC Gets FARCed I have been following the news out of Colombia closely since the raid in Ecuador. The Miami Herald does a pretty good job covering what goes on in Latin America. There was a small article out of Caracas that said that the Laptop computers captured by the Colombian military could not have survived that attack. Then over the next two weeks there were articles of Interpol capturing the Russian arms dealer who sold weapons to the FARC in Thailand. Then two homes were raided in Ecuador and Mexico where large amounts of money were found and discovered to be FARC safe houses. Well it looks to me those Laptops were in good working order because things went fast forward after the attack. Viva Colombia!
b bruce comments on No Free trade with Colombia The Dems are killing each other. A brokered Dem Convention will be a disaster. So I suggest Hillary and Obama have a dual. Pistals? No. Not exciting enough. 12 gauge riot shotguns. Live ESPN or Pay Per View. Twenty paces turn and shoot. Whoa! Would that be interesting. It might even still be legal in the U.S. Winner takes all! Viva Colombia!
b bruce comments on Hey everyone is bitching that the poor in America are suffering so. Has it occured to any one of you that many of the poor in this country are over weight. Fat actually! Many have cars, sometimes two cars, big screen TV's. Get a check from Uncle Sam! Free health care if needed. Now South America is what you refer to as poor. Do you actually believe this counrty will go socialist? Not in our life time suckers! This is the land of opportunity. Socialism takes those opportunities from you. The poor may be poor, but they are not stupid. Bitch Hillary and Obama Yo Mama will destroy what chances either of them have before the Dems convention in Denver. Viva Colombia!
b bruce comments on The Point: Erosion of Colombia's glorified gang This is a very sad story. If the FARC are ignorant enough to let this innocent woman die it will be the final nail in their stinking jungle coffin. They will have lost what little support that they have left. I cannot believe that Uncle Hugo has not paid big cash to get her handed over. It would be a feather in his Communista cap! But I think he has distanced himself from the FARC since the raid in Ecuador. I'm sure he knows that the Signals Intellegence boys are picking up every radio signal along the Colombian and Venezuelan border. Let's just pray Ingrid can hold on a little longer.
b bruce comments on No Free trade with Colombia Folks you need to watch all of this closely. It is the press that are saying it is all doom and gloom. Sure there is some portions of the business sector that is slow. I think there is more to it then the envionmentalists for us not drilling our own oil. Who would stand to suffer the most if we began drilling in some of the big oil finds in Colorado and now North Dakota. There is a do not touch deal somewhere. As far as Hillarys polster getting caught dealing with the Colombians. You must not know the Clintons very well. I would bet a years salary that Hillary sent him to blackmail the Colombians for the cash. She is strapped for cash at the moment in a campaigne that is sputtering at best. That is straight from the Clinton's playbook. I believe she sent him and the word got out. He took the bullet for her that's all. Gal Hillary and Obama Yo Mama will destroy the Democratic party in the next three months. The Democratic convention in Denver will be one for the history books. Has Denver ever had street riots? Hell, John McCain the moderate looks pretty good to some Democrates. McCain is a friend of Colombia! Viva Colombia!
b bruce comments on U.S.-Colombia Deal Faces Labor Deceit Well the Bushman sent it to Congress forcing the vote within the next 90 congressional days. I have started sending letters to all of the Democrates in Senate and the House. Our congress people very seldom read congressional legislation. They instead depend on a staff of hundreds that read it for them. The whole system sucks. But I am sending letters identifying myself as someone who has been to wonderful Colombia on several occasions. I am also suggesting that these same congress people read the book "Big Trouble" by Anthoney Lukas. In the very beginning we experienced violance as well when it came to union organizing. It started with the Idaho mining riots. The miners were working for little money in inhuman conditions for twelve hours a day. Ended up with the murder of the Idaho Governor who suppressed the riots and the battle between the capitalists and socialists for the heart and soul of America. Very good read. It will certainly be a much tougher road for the unions in Colombia! Unions have their good and bad. The bad is American companies go off shore to get it done much cheaper. In most cases not at the same quality. I feel the Free Trade Agreement would benefit both the U.S. and Colombia.

b bruce comments on Here in Ft Lauderdale Spirit Airlines is referred to as Evil Spirit Airlines. Absolutely terrible in baggage connections. Seems the passengers get through customs at a reasonable clip but their baggage disappears! Terrible baggage problems.

b bruce comments on Peanut butter My last trip to Santa Marta ,I took a few boxes of Aunt Jamima instant pancake mix, syrup and some Sausage from Philadelphia. After a night partying at Rodadero, we had a pancake and sausage feast the following morning. The pancakes and syrup won them all over immediately. A good'ol American breakfast in beautiful Santa Marta, Colombia! I would be very happy if I could import Yeungling beer to Colombia!,

b bruce comments on 3-Minute Interview: Eric Wolfinger Calm down folks! This cat pulled it off. He has gone where no man (gringo) has gone before. You talk as if he has passed on some outside germ that will wipe out their primative culture. I found the article very interesting! Content this web site lacks. He did it right. He spoke to the people and was invited in as a friend. He didn't skydive in with video camera and a million dollar sponsor. The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is Colombia's unknown treasure. Now we know a bit more about it. My hats off to the cook, great story dude!
