barrys425 comments on San Andres Marriage Certificate

San Andres I was married in S.A. in October, and my application was approved, and so far no problems, (my wife should be here within the next month) I did not take my papers to Bogota, but from what I understood, the reason to go to bogota was for ME to get a cedula, (which i did not do yet) but as far as visa issues, I have understood the marriage to be 100% valid, and as far as the u.s gov't has been concerned, they seem happy.
Good luck, and congratulations. San Andres is AWESOME

barrys425 comments on best path get married in colombia? or k1 visa to U.S. ?

great info Thank you all for all of your great info. My GF has an interview on friday for a tourist visa. and since she is an attorney in colombia she shows stability etc. so i don't think it will be a problem. hopefully if all goes well she will make through the interview and we will have a great vacation here. however. i plan to go to colombia to get married. and as i understand it. after we get married and i apply for the k3 i130 i129f etc etc. she will no longer be able to travel on her tourist visa. correct? I notice that a lot of the discussions have also been on saving money. if i didn't have money as a issue. would getting the i130 and i29f both at same time be fastest? or in other words. without money as an option. what gets her here the fastest? (kind of a restatement of original post) also. any other suggestions on her tourist interview? already have all paperwork. letter from her work. bank statements. etc. and i have suggested to her to only tell them she is visiting a friend. nothing more! thanks again. this has been extremely educational.

Thank you! Thank you David. as we have been leaning towards a wedding in san andres. we were floored by how inexpensive it is. by my calculations, we can get married and i can travel down to visit about once a month for cheaper than it is to have a decent wedding here in the states. we are looking at late october or november for our wedding. and we know that there will be a long wait. due to advice i have read on this site. we are keeping track of everything to make the interview easier, as well as i plan to come to her interview with her. my fiance is in Barranquilla as well. maybe while our wives are waiting the long wait they could correspond! i am also making all of the bachelor pad changes, and money saving. so i know exactly what you are talking about. i also am working on my conversational spanish, as she speaks no english. which hasn't been an obstacle yet. a bit frustrating at times, but not an obstacle.
again. Thanks for the insight.
