I assume when you are speaking about the cathedral you are talking about Las Lajas. I have crossed from Ipiales to Tulcan a number of times and back again I never had a problem and the border is very safe.Entering from Ipiales into ecuador well ...,the Ecuadorian cops are scum. DAS is more professional and courteous (Altho , one time I was at the colombian side and a couple of backpackers from England took a photo of themselves under the DAS sign, the DAS officer did´nt like that and took them in for questioning.) Point is, cross the border with your papers in order, mind your own buissness and get the hell out of there. I think Ipiales is the worst town in Colombia ,not because it is dangerous ,but just a lousy place with lousy people.I have been to Las Lajas and it was very nice and worth the visit,But hiking there? Why? Take a taxi from Ipiales collectivo and they take you directly to the cathedral . Like I said, entering Colombia from Tulcan is no hassle.

As far as mozzarella .Alpina, also Del Vecciho is very good ,but pricey. Zenu are the best line of products overall when it comes to quality. there is a new product line of bottled sauces called Sassoon or something like that. The packaging is great and very elegant but the quality is garbage. Steer clear. I´ve tried a few and each one was worst then the next.Not cheap either.

What it boils down to is, when you go to the airport in the states to return to colombia, its the idiot agent that is checking you in that makes the call. It´s a crapshoot. Speaking to another agent over the phone when you initially book your ticket or doing it on line makes little difference . I´ve called 3 times and got different answers each time ,yes ,no ,maybe. I went thru this years ago going from central america to the U.S. What I need is confirmation before I leave .Because basically if the airlines can screw out of more money by making you buy another ticket ,they will. By the way I´m using continenetal ,only because of the miles I earned. But they´re terrible and after the miles are spent I´m done with them. i appreciate all the feedback ...thanks

So basically very little has changed since last year. But I dont know about handing my passport over to a courier , I dont think thats a such a good idea.But anyway it was good of you to mention it. Great info. overall.

Yeah, I used Mail Boxes etc. they`re pretty good I dont thinfk there`s one in cali tho. But I`ll give them a call. I appreciate for the help and the phone number.
