athensugadawg comments on Andres Oppenheimer Lites Fire With Illegal Immigration Column Oh...and by the way, your Bush slant is BS as well. He had a huge hand in creating this mess...remember AMNESTY? And how about "jobs that Americans won't do"...anyone care to let us know a job is that an American will not do? Or are those possibly jobs that American "employers" do not want to pay a fair wage and benefits?

athensugadawg comments on Andres Oppenheimer Lites Fire With Illegal Immigration Column Oh yeah....interracial marriage for almost 23 years, and I hate other races; nothing could be further from the truth. Hey...here's a suggestion for those of you that have absolutely no problem with ILLEGAL ALIENS...pay double on your hospital bill next time to make up for the ILLEGAL ALIENS that refuse or cannot pay their own bills. Pay my property taxes for the children of ILLEGAL ALIENS that go to the schools in my area. Pay restitution to the victims of drunk ILLEGAL ALIEN drivers that have no license or insurance in the U.S. Hey hypocrites...get the picture and get out your checkbook, I am sick and tired of the BS excuses... Yes, I speed at times, and I do remember bringing home a paperclip or two from work. So you can equate blatant illegal behavior in another country with minor infractions? Great logic there Einstein...thus, stealing a pen is the same as murder, huh? I would give anything to live in certain parts of Central or South America...but the thought of doing so illegally is unthinkable. The owners of carpet mills, poultry plants and big agriculture thank you profusely...you have been DUPED!

athensugadawg comments on Andres Oppenheimer Lites Fire With Illegal Immigration Column Funny that the U.S. of A. is always perceived as the "bad guy" in how we deal with illegal aliens...that as a group they are severely mistreated and deprived of the basic necessities of life. Given that, why in the hell are the hordes still invading even when the economy is relatively lethargic at the present? And for the oprn borders advocates....why doesn't Mexico open up its southern border and permit illegal aliens into their own country? One more thing...I have heard that Mexico has a great reputation for being courteous and welcoming with open arms for the illegal aliens invading their own country....is that true???

athensugadawg comments on Where are the FARC? Already eaten: this evening it was a "steak tartare". Great to know....probably much better than what Ingrid Betancourt had for dinner...

athensugadawg comments on Mexican who visited FARC camp in Ecuador detained in Costa Rica A "chess professor", huh? Perhaps he realized that the FARC is in a virtual checkmate?

athensugadawg comments on El comandante del pueblo McLenin is a reference to the t-shirt that Reyes was killed in....made by the same factory as "Che-Mart".... http://www.che-mart.com/ Speaking of, is Lenin still molding away in his tomb in Red Square or have they boxed him up and disbanded the circus?
athensugadawg comments on El comandante del pueblo Oh...that Che that proclaimed "I am worth more to you alive that dead!!!"....yeah, if Raul was "El Comandante del Pueblo", what the hell was he doing hiding like an egg-suckin' dog over in Ecuador? And was that REALLY a McLenin t-shit that he was wearing, maybe a twofer from the local flea market in Pasto? Reyes was no hero, he was a thug...pure and simple. The world is actually a better place to live wthout his parasitic, drug-dealing ass being here...

athensugadawg comments on Noam Chomsky's statement supporting the vigil on March 6 Rather odd, I thought someone would at least muster some sort of defense, however feeble it may be. Guess that 2.5 million Cambodians can't be wrong; hell, even Jello Biafra got it right. One think that strikes me is that I cannot find any evidence that he made an attempt to travel to refugee camps for direct interviews with the displaced. It appears that he relied on second or third hand accounts to defend Pol Pot and his henchmen. Hardly professional. Here is another Chomsky tidbit.. http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=1385b76d-6c34-4c22-942a-18b71f2c4a44 Hey, I certainly do not begrudge his wealth, but if you're gonna talk the talk, you better walk the walk. And trust me, the guy doesn't do coach...A1 is fine with him. But I can definitely say one thing, he can burn up a keyboard....must run through three of four expensive laptops a year!

athensugadawg comments on Noam Chomsky's statement supporting the vigil on March 6 All of you that admire Chomsky should be truly ashamed; he was a supporter and apologist for the Khmer Rouge...never forget... http://www.newcriterion.com/archive/21/may03/chomsky.htm and could someone please tell me how you can rationalize 9/11???

athensugadawg comments on Chavez Threatens US Oil Cutoff The coca paste must really be getting to him by now. Looks like it's time for Evo to pay a little visit, kind of like the old VU song "Waitin' for the Man"....
athensugadawg comments on Chavez Threatens US Oil Cutoff Record profits, but they are a HUGE company....just look at the market cap. Strange that you do not hear anyone complaining when they are not making a profit...and keep in mind that profit is not a four letter word...

athensugadawg comments on Is travelling to Mexico the same as travelling to the US from Colombia? Yep..take your passport....
athensugadawg comments on The FARC rebut Europe's support to Uribe I was thinking the exact same thing....perhaps it was the "niche coated with the Teflon of infamy"....come again??? Adorned with "drunk, pervert, and a supporter of scoundrels"...i.e. when nothing else works, just throw it against the wall and see what sticks.

athensugadawg comments on Chavez hardens tone in dispute with Colombia Seems that the lamp posts get a little lower and the ropes a little longer on a daily basis in Caracas...3% monthly inflation has got to hurt. If it's not "The Empire" it's Colombia...seems that he would be a little more creative and throw in Paraguay as well....

athensugadawg comments on Apoyo a la gran Marcha Such a shame that someone can make "jokes" when kidnapped hostages are living a nightmare....sad, very sad.....

athensugadawg comments on Farc deserter says there's "no future for farc" Just curious, anyone have any idea what happens to these individuals once they hang it up? Is a bounty placed on their heads by their former comrades? I do recall a leader named "Biofilo" that called it quits with the FARC with approximately 70 troops under his command a couple of years ago...what is the usual outcome in this situation....?

athensugadawg comments on No Mas Farc protesta internacional Hey Cassini, if you had any guts you would show up wearing a red beret with your oh so stylish FARC t-shirt at the protest in Bogota. Goes both ways there, huh....

athensugadawg comments on Chávez asks to remove FARC and ELN from terror lists Just saw snippets of Tio Hugo's speech on the news.....folks, this is a train wreck waiting to happen. He might as well go ahead and issue a declaration of war. Increible....

athensugadawg comments on FARC says: Uribe kidnapped Emmanuel (no, I'm not joking) Hey Cassini..."reactionary yankees"??? I mean, you call a few of us here the most trite cliche imaginable...can't you do any better than that? By the way, have you ever lived in the U.S. since you know it so well?

athensugadawg comments on Chavez to Keep Negotiating With FARC for Release of Hostages That is for sure....no one, especially her, deserves the hell that they have gone through...
athensugadawg comments on Chavez to Keep Negotiating With FARC for Release of Hostages One thing to keep in mind is that Tio Hugo is playing both sides here....I seriously doubt that Doña Rojas agrees with anything that Oliver Stone had to say. Chavez was obviously enamored with all of the attention that he was getting from his new friend, Comrade Stone (Remember..."I'm a fan!!!"). So if and when these two are released, I would like to see Comrade Stone explain to the Rojas family why the actions of the FARC were justified with President Chavez serving as mediator. Perhaps then we could see a walker wrapped around Comrade Stone's fat head.
athensugadawg comments on FARC says: Uribe kidnapped Emmanuel (no, I'm not joking) I do not believe you. Two Cessnas combined do not have enough power to become airborne with Michael Moore aboard. Perhaps a hot air balloon is in order...

athensugadawg comments on FARC leader calls for all-out offensive in Colombia Cambodia, Colombia....hmmmm....
athensugadawg comments on Videos of retained by FARC contradict hypothesis of Uribe Wow....that's closer to 200% above the official exchange rate. Of course, Cassini still thinks that Chavez is the Second Messiah.... Has Oliver Stone issued a statement on the recent developments? I mean, given that he had it all figured out anyway, it seems that he would enlighten us with just a little smidgen of his incredible insight...
athensugadawg comments on Videos of retained by FARC contradict hypothesis of Uribe I think that Tio Hugo is beginning to realize that the birds are coming home to roost. With a black market currency exchange rate that is approximately 100% above the official exchange rate, double digit inflation, and a severe shortage of basic foodstuffs, he had better get his nose out of other countries business and concentrate on the home front....
athensugadawg comments on FARC says: Uribe kidnapped Emmanuel (no, I'm not joking) Chavez has been amazingly quiet about this whole affair for the past couple of days...looks like the dynamite exploded in his face. This whole affair is like a roulette wheel, place your bets and see where it lands. However, I wonder who in the hell would get off on burning a child with a cigarette???
athensugadawg comments on Update - Farc didn't have the boy Hey Cassini....give it up. There is a very distinct reason why the hostages were not handed over. Are you truly that stupid or just plain stubborn???
athensugadawg comments on HUGE HOSTAGE SCANDAL! Even better...submit samples to each country that had observers that were present at the hostage hand-off that never happened. Then have Oliver Stone present the results in his "mockumentary"...
athensugadawg comments on HUGE HOSTAGE SCANDAL! A better way to handle this is to split samples among the Colombian team and a designated Venezuelan team and then compare the independent results....given that these are not "precious" samples (i.e. the child in question and the abuela are still alive), I think that this would be a feasible solution that the FARC could not dispute...
athensugadawg comments on Miami Herald: Uribe's Claim Scuttles Hostage Release Add an idiot like Oliver Stone into the mix, no wonder why this did not work. And he wants to make a film about Pablo in Colombia... So here is an organization that routinely processes and transports tons of illegal drugs for usage abroad....and they cannot coordinate where to drop off hostages? Sorry, I simply do not buy that. I can only imagine what the families of the hostages are going through....probably like a slow death, prolonged. One can only hope that the New Year will bring success and reunion to those that have suffered for such a long period of time.
athensugadawg comments on hostage release Interesting....in this three way race, who is looking to be the spoiler?
athensugadawg comments on hostage release It's really quite simple... the release has been delayed to accentuate the dramatic effect for Oliver Stone's documentary.... "I have no illusions about the FARC, but it looks like they are a peasant army fighting for a decent living," Stone said in an exclusive interview with The Associated Press at his hotel bar. "And here, if you fight, you fight to win." Wow....that is such a profound statement (!)...perhaps FARC can take both Mr. Stone and Sean Penn in a three for two swap. Would anyone complain?

athensugadawg comments on Antique shopping in Bogota There is a large flea market downtown on Sundays....fascinating what you can find, BUT BEWARE OF THE PICKPOCKETS....I have personal experience! Any taxi driver worth their salt should be able to get you to where the action is...

athensugadawg comments on Miami: Undocumented(illegal) Workers Bemoan Immigration Crackdown Hey MMike...good to see you here, been a while... Regarding illegal aliens entering Puerto Rico, it is very common and not too many are aware of it. Primarily run by Dominicans that cross the Mona Passage between Hispaniola and PR, the illegals are usually dumped on the west coast of PR. One will read about unknown bodies washing onto shore here and there, but that is something not covered in U.S. mainland press.....guess that Britney's trials and tribulations are much more important. Regarding the SJU airport, upon departure the INS agent asks in a quick fashion "Where are you from"? That's it...if you are quick in your reply you are good to go....

athensugadawg comments on Costa Rica breaks relations with Taiwan Interesting.... given that the "Puente de Amistad" that crosses the Rio Tempisque isn't that old..and Taiwan footed that bill to the tune of at least 20 million US. Personally, I hope that fishing habits will change, shark fin soup consumption in Taiwan has decimated the Costa Rican shark population. In all probability nothing will change, except where the final product is being sent to.

athensugadawg comments on Chavez's latest stroke of brilliance One thing is certain.... I have been meeting quite a few middle class/upper middle class Venezuelans that have legally moved to the U.S. who view Chavez with total contempt. Atlas is shrugging and the brain drain is on....hard to believe that someone with any sense of logic in this day and age would seek to emulate a basketcase known as Cuba, but that is his stated goal. Obviously there are very serious economic issues when one can get a black market exchange rate for dollars that is 80% greater than the official rate. The day that Chavez refers to the skilled and talented that have left Venezulela as "gusanos" will be a crystal clear signal that he has consolidated power...

athensugadawg comments on Cartagena Losing Fight On Poverty. The kid that killed the Italian tourist.... was given 90 days of rehab....that's it, believe it or not. Sixteen years old, will never commit another crime in his life. Meanwhile, the husband of the tourist that was killed has been in ICU since the incident. Talking with a taxi driver about it in Cartagena was revealing...."They were old anyhow"....(both were in their 70's...)

athensugadawg comments on Can anyone tell me Speaking of Boyaca.... there is an old inn/bar/restaurant close by that Bolivar supposedly slept in. The bar appears virtually unchanged since the time he was there. I distinctly remember something resembling an old pirate's flag hanging in the bar. Does anyone know where I am talking about and where it is located? Definitely would like to revisit and spend some more time there....
