About (hobbies etc...) Arthur, Nice to see reasonable prices on Rentals. By Greg444 at Mon, 02/27/2006 - 02:10

lostinparadise says on Thursday July 13th, 2006 8:26: Thank you for the apartment you found me 6 months ago. I like to recommend Art to those looking for apartment rental in Cali.

Good to hear you're ok Art And thanks again for recommending the Studio Apts. By JR at Tue, 01/09/2007 - 22:28

I've been on this fantastic site for a few months now and am planning on retiring to Cali. I'm a fairly thorough person and don't like surprises. So, when I read many of the posts, I particularly enjoyed the comments made by Gator, PatsyGringo and Arthur Brode. Why did I select Arthur to see if he could help me? Because he has a unique ability to find ways around some of the red tape to become a pensioner in Colombia. I also learned that he is bi-lingual.He also helps people with their relocation needs, apartment rentals or purchases or finding you a home or farm. When we first got acquainted I had a hundred questions and Arthur answered nearly every one of them. I'm leaving for Cali on Jan.18 2007 for 10 days and Arthur has offered to help me find and purchase an apartment in Cali. I think many of the folks on this site have offered to help others with the multitude of questions that come up and nobody can get a straight answer from any of the Colombian consulates here in the US. And, that's what makes it a great site for me. Kudo's to all of you who have lent a helping hand with some advice to someone who needed it. For me, a very special "Kudo" and Thank You to Arthur Brode! By Bobb42 at Fri, 01/12/2007 -

Hey everyone Art helped me find 2 different apartments here in Cali and also helped me get my gastric band surgery to help with my weight loss so I'm another PBH guy that can give 'ol Art a thumbs up! By RobMiami at Fri, 01/12/2007 -

He's on the secret PBH payroll ;) By Peter at Fri, 01/12/2007 - 22:21

I just got back from three weeks in Cali.. Arthur made the arrangements for my apartment and I have no complaints. I paypal'd him $350 up front and everything was as it had been promised and very convenient for me. I had never met Arthur before but I ended up hanging out with him nearly everyday and he actually saved me a bunch of money on the trip.. We were "straight west coastin" at his apartment with a different group of beautiful girls on a daily basis at a fraction of the cost of a night in the clubs.. I should have never come home.. I had problems finding a place in Cali that would take a small dog. So I turned to Art (arthurbrode@aol.com) He came up with a reasonably priced hotel and I paid by PayPal - Art arranged everything. By tim hickman7 at Mon, 04/16/2007 - 18:03

mecca says on Sunday April 29th, 2007 21:09: I know Arthur personally and have had nothing but great experiences with him for over 1 year. He is assisting me remodel my Penthouse in Cali.

Stayed at the Iguana Hostal(Cali) one night a month ago.Bolted the next day. What a dump is correct. My brother and i slept on what they called beds, two mattresses on the floor. No fans, noisy,no privacy. We paid 30,000 pesos for the Iguana for one night. What Art has is far superior. By Ronrico at Fri, 05/04/2007

Arthur has been real helpfull to me in locating Homes, showing them to my Cousin and sending me pics and info on properties in Cali(Barrio San Antonio) that I am interested in as an investment. By billyb at Thu, 05/17/2007

pinback says on Tuesday May 22nd, 2007 10:47: good exprience so far I will be staying in Cali next week and asked Arthur to set me up with a place. He's been very upfront in all his dealings and very eager to find something in my price range. I'll be happy to give some post-stay impressions as well, but so far, Art has been nothing but helpful

elk says on Tuesday July 3rd, 2007 4:41: A special thanks to Arthur Brode who initially helped me with my pensionado visa. I later helped five other people through the same process. The PBH board has been a valuable tool.

Frank Rizzo says on Monday July 30th, 2007 21:34: What's up G_S...???? ask arthur b..if you need....Arthur helps me in Cali and is a great asset.

expatriate says on Tuesday November 6th, 2007 14:44: There is the Cali Plaza,or contact Art

goin_south says on Friday November 23rd, 2007 10:09: Jus 4 your interest, yeah... I just spent last week in a Hotel recommended by Art B. The rooms are really very nice. No carpets, but.... more like marbled tile floors, and the doors and trim are that rich dark red wood, must be mahogany or something similar...separate kitchenette...nice modern appliances....very comfortable and exceptionally clean....breakfast included, delivered to your door within about 15 minutes of phone order...good a/c..... big tv, and good cd/dvd player. The staff....en todo.....all were exceptional in their ways, courteous, helpful and attentive... and always: 'hoping you like' everything they have done for you..... And, they were continuous... kept on keeping on... working hard to please.

nbenjamin says on Wednesday December 5th, 2007 21:19: I am from Los Angeles - but L.A. cannot hold a candle to Cali.I felt safe the whole time I was there and had no problems. But being safe is more about how smart a traveller you are. But get in touch with Art- he is out there.

Thanks for the tip. I am trying to get my pensionado. I am a US citizen and am living in Panama as a resident with a pensionado visa. The process is nearly identical to Colombia's, save the fact that I used the same type of SS (translated into Spanish by the embassy) from the embassy in Panama and no one sqwaked about it. It went smoothly. So you suggest I go to the US embassy in Bogota and get a 'certification letter' in spanish. Can I then get my visa there in Bogota or do I have to continue to jump through hoops and go to the US etc etc. The guy at the colombian consulate in Panama City implied that I should go to the Colombian embassy in Houston and get the letter apostilled there. It made absolutely no sense to me, but then this is America Latina. Thanks for you assistance. By the way, I intend to live in Manizales.

What Lies Over Yonder Horizon?

The people at the Consulates dont make any sense to me either!
You DO NOT leave Colombia for a pensionado visa.It is all done in Bogota. All you need to bring is your original Social Security earnings stament with you to the U.S.Embassy in Bogota.Once you get your Social Security certification letter at the U.S. Embassy in Bogota you will need to go nearby to the "Legalizaciones" office and get your certification letter notarized.Once you have your certification letter notarized you can head over to MRE in Bogota for your Visa! At MRE they will ask you to provide them with some photocopies of your passport, pics, ect.

Sorry Art, did not get a chance to add you as a friend the last time we spoke via email (Thanks for adding me)...Never did get a chance to get to Cali last month from a planned stopover at Puerto Tejada as we were forewarned and we ended up canceling the whole trip until late this year. I have your number, so I will give you a shout to say hello in the mean time.
