Angel_Gabriel comments on Hotels in North Bogota

North Country Two good options in the north - near a park on 100-something & near some clubs/bars & stricly pickup bars for sexy bogotanas- in 90-something, completely within walking distance. The Hotel Charlotte (www.charlotehoteles.com)runs for about 119,000 pesos & the probably better suited the Hotel Colonial on the same block & as the previous one, it's like in the middle of the block & lot more private.
The latter one runs for 98,000.00 pesos. Prices are for back in December 2004. I liked the Charlotte although no Internet access but they may have it all set up by now, both close to the transmilenio on 85 calle o carretera, don't remember exactly & one block away from a zona rosa. The Hotel Lourdes on 63rd in Chapinero was a nice cheaper & comfortable option, however, the neighborhood -the block where the hotel is- seemed so so to ME; it was late at night though. I was told it is very safe anyway. Also, there's a police station right across the Charlote.
Good luck, disfruta tu estadia!

Angel_Gabriel comments on Panama Vs Colombia...

Where's the Unity?
For those supporting USA, you guys & gals should be siding with Panama rather than the USA for the final...What is up that??! We latinos are more or less in the same boat for certain things -unless you're from Buenos Aires ;)- It's "generally" expected to support your fellow latin americans however that is not the trend with some obviously

Actually I wouldn't feel like supporting the guys that got me out of the game so it somewhat understandable.

JerseyGirl, be sexy at the game.

Angel_Gabriel comments on Panama Vs Colombia...

I believe the final score was 3 -2. Saw the game but don't remember maybe need some natural viagra or seafood in general. How's this Viagra stuff guys? Not there yet hopefully won't be but what better viagra than a sexy colombianita or any LATIN chic dancing away salsita with you mate????

Being Centroamericano myself, I am so freaking ecstatic Panama going for the final game with the USA this coming Sunday. Viva, Bravo Panama!

Jerseygirl, go & catch the game, hacele barra a los Estados...This message will get deleted or modified I bet...

Angel_Gabriel comments on Is Cali dangerous???

What is the status of Yumbo at the moment? Thanks!

Angel_Gabriel comments on Colombia defeats Mexico 2-1 in Gold Cup! Viva Colombiaaaaa!!!!

True. That's what my buddy from Pereira said; the good ones didn't play...nonetheless...it felt pretty good my home country Honduras defeating Colombia. We don't win as much these soccer games so it is rather refreshing to let others step up the plate & eat some...

Angel_Gabriel comments on Hostels

Is the Iguana Hotel the one that has the club build right next to it? I was in that disco & it had two bar/dancefloor dowstairs & upstairs.
Danke!

Angel_Gabriel comments on Hotels in Cali

Have only been to Cali once & stood at the Sheraton (four points) at 18 & 4th. My experience, it is safe & somewhat private, quiet area although I wouldn't walk from the sexta (just two blocks away I think) at night back to the hotel. Also located about 10-13 blocks from chipichape, short walk during the day. Caslug mentioned a while ago the apartahotel which I checked it out. I say if you got the ladies visiting, then this seems like discreet safe place & is rather clean with TV, phone, bathroom & living room to warm it up. Good luck amigo!

Angel_Gabriel comments on Colombia defeats Mexico 2-1 in Gold Cup! Viva Colombiaaaaa!!!!

Actually, Colombia... ...got their ass kick by Honduras - located in Central America which is composed of the latter, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua & Costa Rica- about a week ago, think it was last sunday. Panama used to be part of Gran Colombia. Did Panama get their independence from Colombia then?

Cheers amigos y amigas!

Angel_Gabriel comments on colombians and mexicans

Colombian or Mexican Food?! Really, what food is better, the colombian or mexican? There's this colombian restaurant in NY; the ladies are dressed like "bunnies." I really go there to enjoy the environment & the comely charms of the waitresses dress sexy, I think it is very nice & the dishes are good. Now, what food is better, Colombian or Mexican or Peruvian?? A rather subjective question.

Angel_Gabriel comments on Cali to Pereira

Columbus X & Gato, sorry Gator! My deepest apologies mates, you are right!!! I shouldn't have commented in a place I've no idea about however a comment guarded with caution does not hurt anyone unless you personally get disturbed by it. Cheers Amigos!

Angel_Gabriel comments on Cali to Pereira

Droque, I have no idea about the region to Pereira from Cali, and I am not even Colombian, have only been there once, however, unless you look Colombiano, I'd think twice about taking a bus to Pereira. Plus, if you got dollars, euros, yens, etc, sure you can afford a plane ticket. Good Luck!

Angel_Gabriel comments on colombians and mexicans

Where's that poster boy Columbus X dude? Where are the defenders when you need them???!!! :)

Felipe, looks like you haven't been in very bad situations amigo, know what I mean? Not all of us have had the opportunity for education & all the goodies one can get while in the USA or even in our own countries. Good Luck to you! Be safe!

Angel_Gabriel comments on my favorite song and yours?

"Usted Abuso" Una cancion de salsa contemporanea aunque no tan reciente, es la del grupo La Tropa, el titulo "Usted abuso." El sonido de la trompeta es adictivo, buena cancion para bailarla con alguien que hallas atractivo atractiva. Te sube la sangre lo sientes en la piel :)

Angel_Gabriel comments on iPod - leave it at home when going to Colombia?

USB Kiwi,
I was in Colombia not too long ago & took my big laptop, digital camera & an external USB hard drive. Although I didn't have any issues with my laptop being at the hotel (locked up in my suitcase when not in the room), there are cybercafes all over town nowdays (Bogota/Cali). To keep it light & safe, I suggest you get one or two 256/512 USB memory flash drives or even better, an external USB hard drive (5Gb & more). This way, it can be connected to a cybercafe computer & pictures can be transfer onto it from your digicam. The less you carry the better unless you prefer options such as what to wear, then best to bring varied clothing rather than techie stuff. Less to worry about. I reckon the iPod can serve as external drive for data if you use the Windows software. One thing, most computers were Windows 98/Millenium, not many XPs so keep in mind to bring respective Win98 drivers in floppies. It may sound complicated but it is not at all. Oh, some cybercafes have their systems locked-up so it may be difficult getting to a USB port (hardly the case but did notice two such places) Keep it simple! Enjoy Be Safe!

Angel_Gabriel comments on Que tipo de visa es mas facil sacar para visitar los EU

Angel_Gabriel comments on Going to Cali

You sound like you know your way around so this may not be new to you: En la sexta, Douglas, Brisas something, Tropicali(preferably upstairs with suave salsa & light merengue, the environment is relaxed; presentable, it's nice for a low key night with a girl but don't expect Salsa pesada; they also have a hotel adjcent toit or in the smae quarters I think), Tobys was not bad at all, La Pollera Colorada was pretty cool in an area called Melga(r?) by where the tascas used to be during the feria & a bunch of others I don't recall. Another spot called Tienda Vieja down south. Enjoy, Be Safe!

Angel_Gabriel comments on Pereira

Clubs/Bars closing Early? Really? Even on a Friday or Saturday night? Are you 100% sure?

What else can you elaborate about Pereira?
What's one of the most happening nightspots that you can remember?

Angel_Gabriel comments on Question about Colombian Spanish

Question for isaactraveler....
Do you happen to know Norwegian & Swedish? How similar are these languages? I heard Norway is the linguistic center of Scandinavia (well, the countries that share similar tongue traits; Norway, Sweden and Denmark) & therefore, norwegian will be understood by the Swedish & the Danish (or danes).

Angel_Gabriel comments on PoorButHappy/Mexico or Latin America

You are right Gomezman, you don't know about Latin America.

Most of us do not know a lot about other Latin American countries; enough with poor but happy Colombia. Certainly the audience is there but maybe it should be a completely separate site. This forum took a while to become known & with the popularity it already sports, other individuals would surely find it useful for other countries, be that Mexico, Brazil, Peru, India or Latvia (Riga?). The knowledge is augmented in the long run. My other two cents in the middle of Colombia land ;)

Angel_Gabriel comments on Manizales, Great City

Do people really party on the first days of the year for the Feria de Manizales? I was in Cali & thought maybe next year I head over there but after so much drinking & dancing at the Cali feria, don't think I'll make it thru another week of fiestas. Has anyone ever been to the Feria de Manizales & can tell us all about it??? Etc Thanks!

Angel_Gabriel comments on PoorButHappy/Mexico or Latin America

On the premise that if you built it they will come, it is worth a shot or two. Latin America broken down from Mexico, Central & South America, doesn't have to be organized into specific countries. Just an idea.

Angel_Gabriel comments on Dance Music in Colombia

Bachata On the clubs/discos I visited while in Cali, not one of them played Bachata & the merengue was not the one heard at clubs in NYC, the "real" merengue rico. It was more like suave merengue &/or the commercialized one. Plenty of Salsa, regueton & "vallejarto" (a few girls said that, not me!) for your body though

Angel_Gabriel comments on Pereira

Great! Please tell us about it. Speak with no shame from a perspective of a single guy. Have you ever been to another colombian city? If so, can you compare? How is the nightlife? Did you know anyone before going to Pereira? How is the environment like in terms of people's attitude? How open are the single ladies? How welcoming are they to the advances of a single man? By the way, are you a gringo? Did you at any time feel unsafe? Tell us a little story from down there it will be appreciated by all.

TIA

Angel

Angel_Gabriel comments on Question about Colombian Spanish

Interesting Very interesting all the comments about where the Spanish is better but even more so are people saying negative things about Mexico. I wish there was a poorbuthappy/mexico & let the Colombians & Mexicans debate it. I bet the subject of Spanish being better in Gattaca, Cuba or anywhere would turn into a completely different subject, this is if it is intially brought up by a Colombian & not a Mexican or Spanish (from España). What stands out the most in this post is the negative comments about Mexicans in general, mainly their "Spanish" as the subject. At the risk of sounding ignorant, narrow-minded, this is an example of why a group of people (perhaps colombians) may get a bad rap with other Latinos. It is not the fact that yes you do indeed have got quite a good use of the Spanish tongue, the vocabulary to be percise but more the attitude & to an extent the "supremacy" that can persist, looking down on other nationalities. This is not a representation of the Colombians & those who aren't but who have fallen in love with that great country, this is just another side of it.

Lady Lauthra
Allow me to give you some good compliments. First of all, I don't want to come blunt or seem narcisistic or way to cursi, but, when was the last time someone said that you're a beautiful woman? WOW! Hot! I mean really in the best sense of the word. As I understand from a previous post, you're Caleña & it shows in your beauty. Not only that but you got a certain aura of sexiness that radiates in your posts, very unique, that certain "something" You seem pretty inteligent as well. In short, I wish my girl could be someone like you (I know you're taken ;) for now)

May your future husband acknowledges & loves you dearly.

:)

Cheers!

PS I am single (since you have a sister jajajaja)

Angel_Gabriel comments on Are all Colombian people wonderful. Are all colombiam women angels

Nuevo Leon, Monterrey UtopiaCowboy,

I almost love it & have been back a few times, as anywhere, you do need to know local people to enjoy the city & its surroundings in the beginning. Also, Monterrey rates as a great city to start a business & make money at it! It can be a little mellow at times & no immediate beach to visit. One of my places to settle probably when I get much older, who knows Mexico has great spot to retire to. I heard Panama is another destination to start a business down south.

Here's an interesting link:

ZA ZA ZA Mesa que mas aplauda...

ColombianoX,

It figures. You really need to take a trip somewhere else brother. Relax. You come thru as rude as they can be from wherever country that may be. Myself, Angel was making a comment for everyone else to contrast it with his or her personal experiences and views. Someone made a comment that has been heard here, particularly in the New York City area. I found it interesting that person was not Latino.

Looks like a guy on the defensive (at all times if I have noticed) is you.
"I am Central American & ask any someone who is not colombian, a lot will tell you Colombians tend to be inaccessible, rude, que se creen gran cosa and yes, it is not the first time the comment is heard from other nationalities about the state of the country is a reflection of the attitude they have, perhaps not entirely true but it does rings a bell though"

The above is plainly a comment just made & just that and YOU can take it as comes. What, do you want me to lie to you? I got tons of Colombian friends in NY & we have even talked about stuff like that, some agreed others disagree. Trust me, other Latin nationalities coming aboard this forum will read you over thru & thru but, well you do good “defending Colombia (as you put it mate). She does have a lot to be defended for and just as much to be “glorified for.

What is this paradise you’re talking about? Why say that? What is wrong with you? Do you not get women in Florida??? I’d say Florida is a paradise. You got me cracking up guy but not for too long though ;) You are just an example of what some people may perceive from SOME Colombians here in the states. Once again, relax.

A lot of your responses/posts are nothing more to strike controversies & even intimidate people: “You said yourself that many colombians invited you to drinks and then you come here and criticize the hospitality of the colombian people? You sir, are an ungrateful hypocrite. Guy, you don’t even know the half of me & here you are taking & connecting things completely out of context. Everyone is free to make a comment & you chose to come all defensive.

I happen to be from Honduras & it isn’t a paradise. I will be one of the first ones to tell you Colombia –in many ways- is much ahead many other south/central American countries but that’s it. You don’t want to hear the other side of it; no thanks you’ll take offense Sir.

Why don’t you go to Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica? My advice, do go. It will open up your mind as a Colombiano, Peruvian, Swedish, Filipino, German, etc.

For the record, I never said a country or people are better than any other.

Cheers & thanks to all! Please excuse ColombianoX’s shamefully bad manners, I’m not Colombian and I am even ashamed of it.

Thanks again!

Angel

Angel_Gabriel comments on Those Lonely Nights in Colombia

Yes, there is a sense of insecurity in Bogota bare in mind I was only there for 6 days so it may not be an accurate feeling for most times & lifes in that city. At a bar in Zona Rosa, a girl told me more or less in these words "esto es Bogota aqui no es siempre seguro" This comment also came out of two other women as well. The zona rosa seemed gritty. but once inside a club you go with the flow & enjoy the night away, dude, keep your eyes open for the girls!!!
