Lodging in Madrid one night.

I work and live in Pereira, Colombia. But this week I am in Sweden to visit my family. I am going back the 7th of july, but has to stay one night in Madrid. It was the same when I went here, so I tried to find a very cheap place as I only went there for sleep. I found a good, safe and pretty cheap place downtown. I payed 38 euro, which was very fair..BUT..the taxi there charged me 30 euro as well as 30 back. So I ended up with almost 100 euro - just for one night sleep! So - please - can anyon ...

Roldanillo

I'm swedish and has been working 3 months in Cartago and 8 in Pereira - both as an english teacher. Right now I'm applying for a new job next year. As most of the institutes and colleges here in Pereira don't hire teachers as this moment I have to wait until january for answer.. BUT - I've got an offer as an english teacher...in Roldanillo(!). Well, I don't know so much about Roldanillo more that what I saw last tuesday when I visited the school there. It look laid-back and certainly more bew ...

Tomorrow...

..at last!!! After a whole autumn of prepartions, paperwork, finish all bills, renting out my apartment etc. I´m leaving Sweden tomorrow for Colombia during a whole year.
As it has been my favourite vacation destination you can imagine how lucky I am that I finally will work and live there for one year. I´m gonna work as an english teacher in Cartago, Valle.. ...

Info about Cartago needed

I´ve got an offer to work in Cartago Valle. I don´t know so much (or rather nothing) about this town. It´s not that far away from Pereira (about 40 minuites by bus) but that´s everything I know. Can someone give me some info of Cartago and its surroundings..
Thanks in advance. ...

Pereira college

Now I'm been in Coombia for my 4th vacation here. I came 4 weeks ago and I have one more to go. It feels sad to go back to cold Sweden, but I've got a job in Pereira now for one year. It's a big college between Pereira and Cartago right out in the bush - no disturbing traffic - just the sound of the cikadas, birds,, the river and the 500 children of course. It's a private school so the pay me pretty well. Last friday I passed the Michigan test so I can have some other options too during the even ...

Hotels in Nortern Bogota

In a couple of weeks I´m gonna travel to Colombia. Last time when I was in Bogota I stayed in a hotel in La Candelaria. This time I want to try a hotel in the North, but it seems that they´re all very expensive, especially them near La Zona Rosa - about 50-100 USD/ night which is far over my budget. I wonder if you can recommend some decent prised hotels in the North (20-40 USD/ night) - adress and phone-numbers, please.
Thanks in advance! ...

Karaoke in Medellin

Here in Scandinavia karaoke is very popular - I don´t know how it is about that in the rest of the world. I´m not a good singer at all but I enjoy these places alot.

When I was in Medellin last year I went out with a girlfriend of mine (well, she´s a girl-friend - not "novia" - the fact is that most of my friends in Colombia are girls). As I know she´s a very good singer I wanted to take here to a Karaoke Bar. She´s living in San Javier and had never visited one but she hear ...

Swedish class in Medellin?

We all know that there are lots of english classes in Colombia - as well as frensh, german etc..
But I heard about a swedish class in one of the universities in Medellin. Not swedes but colombians who learn swedish. Could that really be possible? I mean - swedish with less than 9 million users is far from a "world-language".

Does anyone of you know something about this? As I´m swedish myself I´m of course very curious.
Thanks in advance. ...

Travelling by bus - security question

Next week I´m going to Colombia for my third time. I´ve been travelling by bus between Cali, Pereira and Medellin a several times and didn´t have any problems at all. But as I´m going to Bogota first and I´ve got an invitation to Ibague I wonder how secure that trip is by bus, also when it comes with the trip from there over the mountains and to Pereira? Thanks in advance ...

Fair price hotels in Medellin.

I'm going to Medelin tomorrow. Last time I was there I lived in a pretty cheap place for about 8 USD, but was in central Medellin in a horribel brothel area. Can someone please recommend me one other nice hotel in the 15-25 USD range, away from that horrible area. In Southern Medellin or in one other relative pleasant area. Thanks in advance. ...

Cell-phone in Colombia

Saturday next week I´ll go to Colombia for my second visit there - I can´t wait!!! I´ll be there one month. I´ve been thinking of to have a personal cell-phone there - well, my swedish one should definitaly not work there (it doesn´t have tripple-band). But maybe I better should buy one there (unlocked) with phonecard. Useless in Sweden but good to have when I´m going back to Colombia. Is this a good option? How much does a unlocked cell-phone (+phone-card) generally cost in Colombia? Any ...
