K3 Visa We are a little ahead of you. We recieved the packet 3 about a month ago and filed the info 2 weeks ago. Our interview is scheduled for March 30. My understanding is that if all goes well, the visa can be picked up the next business day after 4:30 in the afternoon. The Department of State has a website at www.state.gov. If you follow the links to the embassies and the one in Bogota, there is a PDF file that you can bring up on the left hand side of the screen that is called scheduled appointmants. They update it once per month at the end of the month. Of course, my wife's big question is what to wear to the interview!! I told her any business attire would be fine. I guess that if all she is worrying about is her clothes, we should be fine. Good luck to you!!

Studio 87 We just stayed at a hotel called Studio 87. It wasn´t all that close to the embassy, but it was nice, clean and included breakfast. It was about 20 minutes by taxi from the embassy and cast about $4.00 US each way. It was worth it to us. I tried the apartment route with colombianlodging.com, but he never picked us up at the airport and becuase we got in on a Sunday, he never answered the phone, so we found this place.

Always Spanish Thanks - I found that out when I called. Nobody had any idea what i was talking about. Can the translations that I had prepared here in the States as good as those that might be prepared in Colombia? After all of this, I don't need them telling us that we should have had them translated in Colombia.

Same Situation Hi Sean - I am at the same point as you are. My wife just got the packet from the embassy and as we speak is attempting to fill out the paperwork. I DL the foms here and we have been going line by line on them. The w-2's and tax forms are necessary as well as evidence of bank deposits over the last year. Also I had to get a letter from the bank stating when I opened my account. It seems that the closer we get, the more they want. Anyway, good luck. Maybe we will meet at the embassy!!

Christmas Party Follow-Up Well, the party was great. Half of the kids went nuts when they saw Santa(me) and the other half started crying because they were afraid of good old Papa Noel. I had brought down the gifts -maybe 150 or so and we gave them all out. Plenty of soda and juice for the kids and most of all plenty ofsmiles from the kids. Bringing down all of the presents from Tampa was a bit of a pain, but it was all worth it. I´ll be posting some pics of theparty if anyone wants to see them. Hope everyone had a great holiday.

Holiday Travel From Tampa There are some tickets from Tpa to Bog around the holiday. I am on the American Airlines flight to Bog, returnng on th Jan. 3. They cost a bundle - about $1,400.00 coach. None left on Avianca as far as i can tell. maybe Delta has some. Go Bucs!!! - (Even though I can't stand Gruden)

Thanks I will do that - I have learned alot about the city during the times that I have been there. Nothing wrong with spending some time in paradise, but getting back to BAQ is good aswell. I have never met a better bunch of people, both family and just starngers on the street. I am looking forward to relaxing on San Andres, though.

Dianet I'll get the Dianet phone number from my wife later today.They are in the front of the phone book, but when I speak to her later, I'll get the number off of the work order and post it as well. They have offices all over Barranquilla. We went into one to sign up for the service when I was in town a few weeks ago. There are two services, one is 256 kps and the other 512 kps. The 512kps runs 95,000 pesos permonth. We have not had any problems with it since it was installed. Took about a week for the serive to be installed.

Ride The Wave It's real simple, the last thing you want to do is listens to jerks like us. I met a Colombian woman 26 years younger than i am. Went down to Barranquilla a few times, met her family and stayed at her home while I was there. It's hard to fake feelings when you see how the family reacts for several weeks at a time. I enjoed my self, didn't really ask many people what they thought and went with my instincts (that's why we have them), and ended up marrying her. For me it was a great move, but it could have been a lousy one just as easily. You go to Vegas, well, you know that you have to shoot thr dice in this world. Go with you gut on this one. Good luck!!

Colombia Is The Way to Go I dd alot of research in this area before I got married in Colombia. It was better for my bride because her very large family attended. It was better for my wallet, because the cost was maybe one-tenth of what I would have paid in the States for the same function, and so far, everything is on track for my bride to come here within 6 months. If that is too long a period, then you guys shouldn't be married in the first place.
