Suites Real 85 Hey Chi,

I always stay at the Suites Real 85 in Bogota. The price is about 100K Pesos, and it is located about 3 safe, walkable blocks from the Zona Rosa. I personally like it because it is close, well-priced but a little more quiet and low-profile than the St Simon. Very limited English is spoken there, but the place is great, the staff is nice, they have hot water, etc.

area around Parque Bolivar From what I have been able to glean, the area around Parque Bolivar is reasonably safe and should be fine if I take the usual precautions one should take regardless of where they are in Colombia. I will be coming to Medellin in late February to early March, and the hotels "Hotel Cristal" and "Hotel Capitolio" seem to be about what I am looking for in terms of accommodation and price. I just want to make sure that I'll be able to walk around in the daytime and easily get a taxi to and back from where I am going at night.

If anyone can confirm or negate what I say, I'd really appreciate it. Also, if anyone has experience with either of these hotels, I'd love to hear that as well.

Mid-Priced Places? Hi everyone. There seems to be a real dearth of mid-priced lodging options in Medellin. For comparison's sake, I usually stay in the Suites Real 85 in Bogotá, or the Aparthotel del Rio in Cali...both places offer a clean, private, safe and comfortable but simple room/suite in the neighborhood of 80K to 100K COP per evening. Could anyone provide a Medellin recommendation in line more with that? I will be in Medellin at the end of Feb/beginning of March.
