airetuPaL comments on El polvo mas caro!

TENAZ! I'm willing to place a wager that this will probably be made into a movie or at the very least, a novela. I wonder if the lovely Ms. Martha Bolaños would be included in the subject matter of this book...? Robi, por 300 millones, hermano te cojes todo la costa y parte de La Guajira. En serio.

airetuPaL comments on QUE SIGNIFICA??

I'm pretty sure its slang for intelligence. 'Ese chino es muy avispado'! Tambien buena pepa y pilas!

Muchas gracias señor...sometimes in life you have to read between the lines...or go out and find out in first person what it's really all about.

airetuPaL comments on Need help in Colombia - Contact me

This guy sounds like an Arthur Brode wannabe.

airetuPaL comments on Costa Rica

PURA VIDA!!! You have nothing to worry about Señor Seattle. Costa rica is very tranquil and you and your family will blend in with all of the other gente Colombiana living there already. I seem to notice that the majority of them are 'Paisas'. Why is that? I really dont know, but I hear that the weather in San Jose is exactly the same in Medellin...go figure. But if you really want to get on the Ticos good side...just starting talking shit about those f'king NICAS and blame them for their laziness, their crimes, and taking jobs away from the natives. Yep, them Ticos and Nicas truly do hate each other very much. If you need any resources, please feel free to drop me a little note and I will be glad to help. Pura Vida...

airetuPaL comments on UNA FAMILIA POR SOLO 100 MILLONES DE PESOS.

Ask for any volunteers or do we nominate someone?

airetuPaL comments on UNA FAMILIA POR SOLO 100 MILLONES DE PESOS.

Imagine if we could connect members of our PBH community and hook them up to a lie detector and ask some of those same questions????? You would be in for the shock of your life!!!!!

airetuPaL comments on UNA FAMILIA POR SOLO 100 MILLONES DE PESOS.

"Nada mas que la verdad" is a show stopper. My GF in Barranquilla tells me about this show but I am a bit skeptical...I mean would anyone have the 'cojones' to go on nacional television and expose yourself for 50 grand [US]? I personally think that some of these contestants are in collusion with producers...she told me of another episode where this woman from Medellin admitted that she was a prostitute before. This lady also had with her her only daughter and mother on the show and on one of the final questions, she was asked if she would accept money for sex if someone were to offer it to her..or basically admit to return to prostitution. She thought long and hard and finally said yes, and during the shows anti-climax, the cameras showed her daughter crying and pleading her mom to get off the show and leave. Scandalous to say the least! Good news! That show will air here in the US this fall. keep an eye out! -To tell the truth!

airetuPaL comments on URGENTE! URGENTE! BUSCO PASAJE A PRECIO MODICO PA' MEDALLO

Trate de buscar algo en www.despegar.com Es un sitio de web en Mexico con algunas tarifas buenas para viajar al resto de Latino America.

airetuPaL comments on BRINGING A CHILD FROM NICARAGUA

The mother of this child is living here in the US with out legal status? Is she an illegal alien here in the US? And you want to bring this child here from Nicaruagua? No WAY! Other than smuggling him illegally...I know several people in Guatemala and Mexico that can probably help you, but I wont associate myself with any of this...it's illegal buddy! There's nothing you can do.

airetuPaL comments on Full 80´s Bar

Alot of the late 80's music was kool. Punk, New wave, Industrial, etc. Except for the buggle-gum girl crap. I hope they dont change formats and include the horrendous sounds of the boy band genre of the 90's....YUCK!!! No wonder I like to spin bleep music!

airetuPaL comments on Niegan hospedaje a Marilyn Manson en hoteles de Colombia

I work in marketing and I really got to give his PR agent kudos in keeping this guy in the headlines...I mean ANY PR, no matter how extreme, is good PR! And mr. MM is taking this all the way to the bank while at the same time laughing at the rest of you. I mean really...do you really believe he molested little children onstage, or any of those 'alleged' lewd acts during any of his concerts without provoking the interest of the police? Its really simple...if you dont like him, dont buy his music or listen to any of his crap. Dont believe the hype!

airetuPaL comments on 24 to go........ciao Iraq

You are currently in IRAQ but you are nervous about being in Bogota? Are you F'kin serious? Dude, even Cali is a lot safer than where you are currently are at. Bogota offers a very diverse nightlife, very nice restaurants, shoppping, etc...you'll soon see for yourself. Go to the clubs in the Candelaria, or the Zona Rosa on 93. You can ask her to plan a trip to Fusa or Melgar/Girardot or try going to Ibague or to the 'Coffee' region in the cities of Pereira, Manizales. There is also a place called "El Parque del Cafe" around there. I Hope this helps. Cheers.

airetuPaL comments on

What shitstorm? The Colombian military doesnt give a flying F who they kill, especially if they know foreigners are fighting with the guerrilla opposition. Stupid b*tch should get her ass shot-up for that crap...hopefully from my mouth to GODS ears.

airetuPaL comments on

None what-so-ever. It amazes me to no end the kind of questions I get to read in PBH. That's all. Yes, you can go see your gringo friends in jail anywhere in Colombia...just keep in mind that since your friend is a foreigner, and the persons visiting him are probably foreigners too, then some $$$ maybe required to see them. Sorry Folks!

airetuPaL comments on Very interesting Colombia related program at PBS

I saw it last night on WTTW. Excellent show! You wont see this kind of reporting on FOXNews, CNN, or MSNBC...especially MSNBC since all they seem to show are those internet predator stings shows. Nothing new regarding American black-ops in Colombia...and it willl continue to grow as our friendly (Colombian) neighbor H Chavez continues with his useless F'ckn rhetoric and try to rule LAm outside of Venezuela. More to come...just sit, wait, and tune in.

airetuPaL comments on

Yep. Bad manners all around. Sometimes I call my family and the line is echoing or just starts to peter in and out. Most homes in Colombia are lucky to have one phone, unlike american households where even FIDO the dog has his own line, some people in Colombia are lucky to have a phone at all. Terrible logistics! Bad manners?! like when I go to the State of Illinois building in downtown Chicago and I get the most superb customer service from govt. lackeys who are usually mostly black...go figure. Hey perro, if your GF in Colombia was a Sofia Vergara, would you still put up with her (phone manner) BS?

airetuPaL comments on Colombianas, las hispanas más bellas

Las mas bellas del mundo son nuestras mujeres Colombianas...por eso todos estos gringos hijue*utas viajan a Colombia para buscar mujeres.

airetuPaL comments on Colombian traveling with American Passport

Nada. I was born in Bogota and I travel frequently to Colombia on an American passport. The only restrictions your sister will have is the time allowed in Colombia, 30 - 45 days max on average. FYI, I suggest she get her cedula and Colombian passport asap, that way she can enter Colombia as a national without having a time limit. Last time I was in Colombia (May '07) I submitted my paperwork. I will pick up my cedula in October this year. Nothing beats having a dual citizenship...especially for Colombia. Suerte hermano.

airetuPaL comments on help with teaching tips & strategies

Funny...what a stupid ploy HAHAHA!!! So you're an english professor?! and your asking us what to do?! What a joke! Another long list of so-called "english professors" in Colombia waiting to "tutor" young nubile Colombianitas. Everytime I go to Colombia, I see more and more A-hole wanna-be english teachers!

airetuPaL comments on Advice on travel to Colombia

Stay Home...for your sake! Yep, its really bad in Colombia for english hoodlums such as yourself that will only wind up getting rubbed out in some cheap whore house. At least that is what your TEMPER will do to you.

Why do you want to go there if yor Ex-gf doesnt want to or had such a terrible time there? Would you go to Iraq? Theres lots of beautiful women in Bagdad for that matter!

You want info on contract killers??? You just proved that you are definitely another fcuking w*nker!

airetuPaL comments on Colombian Festivals in Chicago

Yes every year. CUPULA (Colombianos Unidos Para Un Labor Activa) promotes one of the two large Colombian independence festivals in Chicago. It is held in the Forest Reserve Miller Meadows in Maywood Park, IL located on Roosevelt Rd and 1 st Ave. Usually the 3rd weekend in July. [before or after July 20]

You can get more information by picking up the spanish language newspaper La-Raza in any Spanish/Mexican supermarket or in the The Reader weekend guide, and also try the weekend guide in the Tribune around those dates.

I know of another Colombian picnic/event that is held in Morton Grove on Dempster and Lincoln. Thats too far for me, I live in Bolingbrook.

airetuPaL comments on Colombianos en Chicago?

I can tell you who Im... definitely NOT rooting for! Argentina! Esos cabrones perdieron para que Colombia no entre al mundial. HijueP*ta Argentinos!!! Im going to support the opposing teams Argentina plays!

I predict Costa Rica in semi-finals...just watch.

airetuPaL comments on From my more "Sensitive" Side

I am... I am so glad to be an Earthling!

airetuPaL comments on From my more "Sensitive" Side

Thank you for the history lesson In the marketing firm where I work, 5 de Mayo is a major promotions bonanza that has nothing to do with the French, Mexicans or Austrians. 5DM has become a marketing blitz for US restaurants and bars to sell more liquor and food. Thats all.

airetuPaL comments on Question about Medellin girls

That just proves... that ALL women are catty!

airetuPaL comments on Colombian Family Wins US Embassy Roulette

Analogy Well the same can be said of slot machines...you can feed, feed, and feed them countless coins, but eventually somebody is going to claim the prize.

I have much better odds in Vegas than trying to obtain a VISA from the US Embassy in BGTA.

airetuPaL comments on

WOW! Yep, Cali is sure dangerous, Colombia is dangerous. So is Kingston-Jamaica (any of you been there?), East San Juan in Puerto Rico, Brooklyn-New York, Compton-California...and believe it or not, the bastion of all Gringoness, Costa Rica! So fcuking what?!

If somebody is going to pull game on you...they're going to pull game on you no matter what you do.

Honey, I dont think that driver inadvertently decided to get out of his car and shoot somebody at random....that sounded like a typical contract for hire. This Bullsh*t thread about dangerous here or dangerous there, Colombians dont go around shooting and killing people at random just as much as Gang-bangers or Mobsters here in the US do. The difference is that innocent people always get caught up in the cross fire often commited by criminals...hold ups, car-jackings, etc, etc.

Blanco M, dont believe the friggin hype! but that doesnt mean you shoud be careless...use your common sense to play it safe anywhere you go.

airetuPaL comments on job needed

Your funny Rick! How much money are you expecting to earn there buddy?

What areas of expertise are you marketable in?

try selling coconuts.

airetuPaL comments on From my more "Sensitive" Side

So wrong I guess Memorial Day, Labor day and the Fourth of July doesnt mean squat here. Its really about American attitude...some people really show their love for this country, while other [Americans] sadly dont give a f*ck. But hey, thats the wonderful part of living in the 'home of the free'.

airetuPaL comments on Question about Medellin girls

Its all relative I would go out on a limb and probably figure that if there was a Colombia vs USA type of event, you would definitely root for team USA while your husband will cheer for his home country...

Your husband is just expressing his nationalistic pride on a known fact that the majority of Colombian women are very beautiful.

Im sorry, but I cant say the same thing about American women.

Hey amigo Once in country, try getting some Spanish lessons...quick!!!

You will be alright. If your spider sense tells you something is not right, listen to your instinct. Always be aware of your surroundings wherever you go without being too paranoid. Be careful of 'over' friendly Colombians/strangers, they are trying to set you up for a fall. Try to ask your amiga if she has family that can show you around, that can help. But be careful if they start to ask you for $$$ for bullshit. Always keep your money separated and do as the natives do...dont carry alot of cash with you and try to pay your purchases with ONE credit card. Never hail a cab off the street, always call the taxi service.

email me if you like.

AB, email me. You bet Arthur. Although my contacts in Colombia desperately want more phones. I can procure some for you when I go to Colombia in August. I have four models to choose from. All unlocked with triband GSM.

airetuPaL comments on what about an extra long panama stopover?

Book your flight from the US I would consult a travel agent for this.

Ask your travel agent in the US to get fares from Continental/COPA which is very affordable to what you are planning to do.

Another thing you can try is to book a flight from NYC to Panama city with a return flight back to NYC whenever. Once in Panama City you can take the bus (TICABUS) to CR. Mind you its a 16 hr bus ride to San Jose and vice versa. When you get back to PC, a flight to Cartagena is very cheap and you can purchase those tickets in Panama with COPA.

It all depends how much $$$ you are taking with. FYI, CR is a little on the expensive side with all the tourist traps etc, etc. Panama and Colombia you can stretch your dollars more. Definitely try to go to Montezuma in CR and/or Guanacaste near Nicaragua (Pacific). Some of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see. Or go to the Rain forests on the Gulf side north of LIMON. The hot springs near the Arenal volcanoe are a must too!

Forget the boat trip to Colombia, too long and complicated for what you want to do.

airetuPaL comments on Colombianos en Chicago?

How ironic... Compa, isnt it ironic that there are alot of caleños, paisas and costeños here in Chi? From tierra caliente to winter wonderland...go figure. The Colombian festivities keep getting bigger and bigger each year. Last year Sonora Dinamita was at a picnic off Manheim. CUPULA is still on Roosevelt and 1st ave. I'd put up with the heat all day to see those lovely 'Colombianitas'...

To those that are curious; Born in BGTA, emigrated with my parents to Chi when I was 2 yrs old. My siblings and cousins are all American born. Became naturalized American citizen when I served in the NAVY. Been around the block more than a few times. I travel to Latin America at least twice a year. Panama, CR and Colombia is where its at.

Available for wingman services for all the GRINGOS out there.

airetuPaL comments on Salsa lessons

Wrong country Try Puerto Rico.

I got my steps from Lisa 'La boriqua' here in Chi. Cant beat that.

airetuPaL comments on

Dont worry about it... Yo Homeboy, dont sweat it. I live in Chicago and I can certainly tell you not to venture to certain areas of the West or South sides without getting any static. As long as you play it cool and dont act like a typical American asshole, you should be fine. Just respect the people and their culture. Make alot of friends...y aprenda el idioma, eso te va ayudar bastante.

airetuPaL comments on Colombianos en Chicago?

Por cierto compa Tu debes saber muchas cosas que pasan en Chicago...TENAZ!!!

Haber si podemos encontrarnos en la fiesta de CUPULA para el 20. Dejame saber.

Otro rolo.

airetuPaL comments on Colombianos en Chicago?

You are talking about Gonzalo...right? G5, I know this is a public forum and all...but I do know what Gonzalo is all about. Nuff said.

airetuPaL comments on Colombianos en Chicago?

No estas solo Compa, I also know the owner of Pueblito Viejo across the street from the Fuzz...Why do you think he went to Miami? He also opened a Pueblito Viejo in Florida.

Yeah, Mekatos is the name of the bakery...I thought it was Antojitos Colombianos...oops! For the money, I prefer to go to Sabor a Cafe instead of any of the two Las Tablas restaurants.

There used to be a Pollo Koko-Rico on Harlem but I think they are closed. There is another good "asadero de pollo" owned by a Colombiana on Fullerton between Pulaski and Western. Good stuff, just like the old country. I always buy some "pollo" when I go home to BBrook.

I take it you dont venture to the AUSTIN district police station?

Muy Chistoso!

airetuPaL comments on Cost of Motorola V3 Razor in Colombia?

Over rated! Dude, you are paying too much for those razors! OTOH, I sell brand new (unlocked) Innostream GSM phones for a handsome profit in Bogota and Cali, besides Innos are much better phones and practical than the Moto.

airetuPaL comments on Colombianos en Chicago?

Chao.

airetuPaL comments on To All Colombianos in New York

Chaito.

airetuPaL comments on Any coral reefs/nice beaches near Palmira?

Not by a long shot. Buenaventura is your closest destination for a beach. And I dont think there are any Coral reefs to dive for. San Andres and the other islands in the Carribean are your best bet.

I would recommend going to the Pearl Islands in Panama, Tortugero in Costa Rica, the Mosquito coast off Honduras and Belize for what you are looking for.
