ACampion comments on APARTA-HOTELS IN MEDELLIN

Thank you everyone who has made a comment. I feel privileged to have such faithful clients and I'm happy that all our hard work providing a better service hasn't been for nothing. I would like to clarify a few things however as much of what Ferran has said is completely untrue. We require a 20% (not 35%) reservation deposit and a security deposit of $300 to make a booking which is standard practice for apartment rentals to protect against cancellations and damage. Security deposits are normally returned within 24 hours. (not 10 days) We have never, and will never offer any service regarding 'girls or parties', in fact as mentioned we have three pages of regulations specifically to avoid that. I would appreciate it Ferran if you would publicly apologise for making a completely false and potentially damaging statement in a public forum. Whoever you spoke to about apartment rentals in Medellin it clearly was not me. ACampion comments on visa extension, a month before it expires

Kelvin, How did it go? I need to renew mine by the end of this month. I have all my paperwork in order, but I was just told by a lawyer/accountant that I have to renew outside of the country. It was always my understanding that a renewal can be done in Colombia. Also, did you have to declare income tax for the renewal? Thanks, Andy

ACampion comments on Religious Marriage Ceremony in Colombia

Hi guys, my fiancee and I are planning to web in July. Neither of us are particularly religious including her family but she is catholic and we are wondering how to go about the wedding with all the pomp and ceremony of a telenovela but without me having to convert to something I have absolutely no belief in. From what I have read the easiest way is to have a 'civil service' which is just signing papers I assume, then we can go ahead and pan whatever kind of wedding we like. Can we get married.. exchange vows etc. in front of any priest? Does anyone have any contact details for a priest, or even better, just someone legally able to marry people. I understand that all I need legally is my birth certificate, cedula/passport and a document that states I have never been married (in spanish and certified) for the civil stuff. All help appreciated!! :-) Thanks!

Apartment rental in Medellin I will have a three bed apartment located in El Poblado by next week. You can have a room in the apartment for $30 per day if you are willing to potentially share with other travellers, however the whole apartment on a monthly basis would be $1200. It sounds expensive but it is in the best part of town, with the best view of Medellin and some of the best facilities invcluding a pool, gym, squash court etc. You would have the use of a cellular phone for the duration of your stay and many other benefits.

Hi Joe Actually, I used to use Skype which works very well, but have recently swtiched to the latest vesrion of Yahoo! Messenger which my current guest uses to do buisness in the US every day. It's extremely clear, even over wireless, which I have just installed.

If you are planning on staying for a year then yes, I can imagine the prcies are high, but you're more than welcome to stay for a short period while you try to find longer term accomodation which I can certainly help you with. I have dealt with many of the agencias here and know what you should be paying for furnished or unfurnished properties. Yesterday I brokered a deal for my current guest who is also staying for a year in a nice two-bed furnished apartment.

Speak to you soon,
Andy

P.S I will be signing the papers on a new 3-Bedroom apartment this week, so hopefully it'll be fully furnished and ready by the end of the month. Take a look back at the website which I have updated for more info.

Room for rent in Medellin Hi everyone,

As an alternative to the cheap and nasty hotels in the center and the numerous hostels which offer good but crowded accommodation, I have a luxury 3-bedroom apartment in El Poblado, close to the Zona Rosa and public transport. It is also easy walking distance to a large supermarket and one of the best shopping centers in Medellin. It is fully furnished, has free internet, cable TV and one of the best views in Medellin. As residents, myself and my flat mate can give excellent advice one where to go and what to do. The apartment complex also contains a pool, squash court, gym and 24 security.

As guests, you will be sharing the apartment with myself, Andrew an Australian who has been traveling in South America for over two years and has settled here in Medellin for over a year now, and Jim, an American who has been here for 9 months and spent the previous 6 months travelling down through Central America so between us we can answer almost any question you might have about Medellin and the rest of Latin America.

I can accommodate a single traveler or a couple for one day or for several months. If you would like to make inquiries, please email me at a_campion at yahoo.com or telephone ahead on 321 2837. The cost of renting the room in the apartment is $25US ($60,000 pesos approx.) per day for one person or $40US ($95,000 pesos approx.) for a couple.
