when you take the lonely planet,

or any travel guide these days,

you get stuck on the gringo trail

plus

the travel guides naturally lean towards providing more and more expensive hotel information and such,

more and more

common denominator crap

I think we have a way to fix that

100s of so-called travelers?

in the same 3 hostels?

watching *friends* reruns?

if we can make a place where you can share travel information

and there is information about loads of places

in other words

it's not restricted by the size of the book,

or by the amount of money the company thinks they can make on this guide,

or by the popularity of the place

but

anyone can write travel guides

together with others

and maps

and pictures

about any place

no matter how off the beaten track

or

unpopular

then perhaps

traveling will become

once again an adventure.

that's the idea
